Everyone saying we must sign James. Yea we should.

But this guy is fantastic. I cannot remember him losing an aerial duel all season. Plus Troy Deeney, a proven premier league goalscorer, looked like a Sunday league striker. If we can get Osti and James in that would be fantastic

One things for sure that guy can head a ball - if he does get in the end of a cross and it’s not at the keeper he will score ! Ronaldo like

Given his age and rate of development (isn’t this only his second season of men’s football?) you’d think he’s above this level. If we stay up and plan to have a push next season then maybe he’d buy in to that.

He was a little rash at times early season but he has put in some very mature performances and without Fadz alongside. His heading is immense but I have been impressed with his improved distribution from the back. He isn't the quickest but otherwise is looking a very good all-round defender.

What I like about him is that he relishes an old fashioned battle, looks like any duels are personal, and it is fairly evident that nobody is going to bully him. A bit of a giveaway is that I can't remember him smiling at an opponent, like a lot of players do. He's not out there do be your friend.

Yep, he wasn’t phased by Deeney at all. When they clashed early in the game, Deeney wanted to talk, Ostigard just told him where to go. Deeney is carrying weight and looked a bit immobile, but he’s still a clever footballer, and a handful. Nearly won it for them, which would have been another robbery.

I am not sure Brighton have sent him here to sell.

I think he is very good and would be suprised if they are ready to off load him yet?

Even if they do sell I think other sides will out bid us.

He’s out of contract.

So? They can still offer him a contract. Other teams could still outbid us contract wise.

Yeah but he might love it here.

A back line of Rose Østigård and a decent left footer, with a commanding keeper who can distribute the ball? 🤤

All depends what we can afford I guess.

Your point was that they wouldn’t sell him, my point was that we don’t need them to.
I would love him here. Especially in centre. Think we are getting an indian summer out of McFadz.

Agreed. I’ve said on another thread I think it’s unlikely we get him, but given it would reduce the squad turnover I would be looking to him as one of the first potential deals on the table.

Offer him £10k a week for 3 years, just the same as 1.5 m purchase. You could even increase that salary by 50-100%, as the cost would be spread, plus you'd have a huge saleable asset as he progresses.

Got to be the plan when we went for him on loan knowing he would be out of contract a bit like o hare we would be in the driving seat if he likes it here and is getting first team football

Deeney looks finished to me no movement and not a lot more interest. He is probably two stone overweight and is preparing for his next stage by being on Talksport.

Yes & no. He's not what he once was but still a good player. Was a handful today but Ostigard dealt with him well.

I was gutted when Marosi first got injured but have to say his distribution always made me cringe and when Wilson first come in there was a noticable difference in the quality of distribution for a start he wasnt sailing the ball 6 feet over McCallums head while he was being marked tightly so an upgrade on keeper would be nice...on the flip though after the Burge fiasco years Marosi steadied everything at the back

He ended dropping deeper or going wider when he was decent he would have backed himself to go up against Leo, considering there was talk at the start of the season he was going to Spurs he looks a million miles from that player

He simply couldn't handle the athleticism of Østigård (although he's a bit of a genetic freak in fairness!).
Deeney is still a very clever footballer & I'd back him to score given the opportunities but I think physically he is really struggling now & is almost totally immobile hence just 1 open play goal all season.

When he was trying to run he looked in pain I thought he looked like he had blisters.

Would be good but can't see us being able to afford to bring in Osti and another CB, even if we got rid of both Fadz and Hyam (which I don't think would be good for squad depth).

I gree. Fadz has performed better than expected. But we've got to be careful. That Indian summer can turn into a late autumn very quickly at his age.

If Brighton offer him a new contract would we still have to pay some form of compensation?

Also doesn't stop another team offering him more and his performances will have gathered admirers

Then we may as well not bother. If we can’t improve the squad we’ll go down next year.

Is he not out of contract at the end of the season? He’s great but he’s not playing regular football at premier league level for Brighton next season - no way he’s getting ahead of Brighton’s current centre backs.

In that we’d be well placed and as he’s out of contract theres no fee

If they have an option of a year in their favour then that’s different.
In any case he’s been brilliant and is getting better and like james may well keep us in this division

I think we’d be more than able to bring two starting CBs in (hopefully one being Ostigard) given McFadzean’s contract is expiring. We need to upgrade the squad otherwise, as shmmeee’s touched on, what is the point of it all? I’d be looking to reduce the squad size and focus more on quality over quantity next season.
