Despite his years if service I can't forget Hall's mare of a day at Derby away. Think that might have been his last game. Coleman had bizarrely frozen out Elliott Ward so we were lumbered with Hall, who couldn't cope with Commons and Hulse. That was Nigel Clough's first win as Derby boss after a tough start, he brought back Savage who had been frozen out by Paul Jewell. We went two down in a few mins in front of a huge city following and a full house, were never in the game. Henderson made his debut that day. Less impressively, so did Lee Sawyer. Temped to say Bell and McPake too as they'd signed that week, but were probably injured knowing that pair!

Love a bit of Marcus Hall, in a sort of Eddie The Eagle Edwards kind of way.

He has a better record record than any current player having played at a higher level for his entire career.

Yep Marcus Hall was an accident waiting to happen every game! And to think Villa sniffed about in his early days.....

So has Wayne Turner, John Gayle, Julian Darby, and Scotland International Andy Webster, so I am not sure that is a the best gauge of success

Wouldn't say it's better than Joe Cole?

Longest serving player I can remember to keep the tag promising youngster.

Typical failed attacking midfielder who was converted to a fullback...but always looked like he was playing out of position. Always comes across like a pleasant bloke though.

Reading that someone called in to gush over Marcus Hall, I'm trying to remember if I might have blacked out and called CWR last night.

Bit harsh on him there, I feel. Yeah he was clumsy and had awful close-control, but he worked his arse off and gave his all for the shirt. What he lacked in technical ability, he made up for in determination and drive.

Looking back, he wasn't that bad at all. He was just an easy target for the fickle clan.

to be fair - the guy who phoned in is a little low on the iq scale . Trouble is CWR know him and give him a lot of air time.

They have a habit of doing that the swines. Just look how much airtime they give those plonkers Eakin and Linnel!

There was 16k last night who'd give their all. For me that's a given. Yes he was an athlete and a nice guy, but afraid he wasn't up to it.

Uh-huh, but I doubt even 1% of them could have played in the best post-Hill City side, in the Premiership. It's a matter of opinion, I guess.

I know of Mark (the guy who phoned in) and it's a shame to read some of the derogatory comments on here about him. He's a genuinely nice, approachable guy who adores City albeit with some interesting fashion choices (no idea why he wears a Villa shirt). Who cares if he rates Marcus Hall, he's entitled to his opinion as much as anyone else.

Yeah, I always thought he was pretty poor.
