There has to be variety, playing out from the back has worked but it will only continue to work that well if there is the odd long ball into a channel for forwards to chase,
Keep their back four/defensive midfielders honest, without that you just end up pinned into your own third as happened on Saturday and mistakes become much more costly.
It was just a bad day at the office. 1 defeat in 11 games doesn't suggest a Plan B is required at all. What is required is players not making silly mistakes
A by-product of the late winners and equalisers. Rotherham was almost 80 minutes losing and we've been behind at Wimbledon and Blackpool before coming back to win and also behind at Portsmouth and Donny before last gasp equalisers.
We've only scored one goal in the opening 15 minutes, home or away, all season (Hiwula, 3 mins away at Pompey):
That's also reflected in the halftime scores - ahead 3 times in 11 games and all by a slender 1-0:
I will be really surprised if we are able to maintain a promotion push, if we continue as we are. Hiwula needs to hit a hot streak or we need to get better ball (and more often) to Godden inside the area. I think the results and the euphoria over the last gasp goals have somewhat glossed over the lack of a ruthless streak. It's extremely difficult over a full season to be pushing automatics on the back of victories by a single goal.
Very true Man City were equally pants. Loads of examples in all leagues at moment and maybe 'f***ing about with it at the back' has made more games interesting & entertaining. Perhaps offsetting the amount of goals VAR cancels out !!!!
