For me:

Burge 7 - commanded area well, only early in the match where the ball squirmed under him made me wince
Willis 6 - Good to have him back
Stokes 6 - played well, more solid defensively and saved us early on with a good interception in the box.
Pennington 6 - Again pretty solid, looked comfortable
Martin - One of his better games
Ward 6 - Had a hand in the second goal, never really got in the game but showed some nice touches
Fleck 7 - Really improved since the departure of SP. Looked good again today
Barton 6 - Some nice touches and was unlucky with the offside goal
Tudgay 6 - Rose well for goal, pretty good in first half, faded in the second and looked shattered.
Nouble 7- Played well, particularly in the second half, looked strong and caused them no end of problems. Much better when in the middle
Samuel 5- Seemed out of sorts today. Worryingly, that's two games in a row where he's been below par

JAckson 5 - not long on enough but did OK.
Odelusi 7- His pace caused them problems and he was in the right place for the goal

5-7's yet we won and scored 3 away from home ?

genuine question, were we lucky to get the win today ?

No, we played well, we really did. Maybe they should all be 7s then. Best I've seen us play for god knows how long.

To be fair torch you're probably about right, even mowbray said we didn't play particularly well and gave away possession cheaply, we also conceded 2. cant fault the 3 points though.

Post my ratings up in a bit but to answer your question. I don't think so. I mean yes chesterfield had more possession and 15 corners to be fair but we created good chances and scored 3 deserved goals to win.... Just.

Our defence still looks very shaky I can't see us keeping another clean sheet this season tbh. That's the only worry.

Nouble's goal was great; I thought he was going to mess it up. All the players seemed really up to it and when we did get the ball we used it well. There was an attack in the first half that started in our own box and we had a shot in theres, some great passing.

Know what you mean. However with our attacking threat I don't mind leaking two goals a game if we can score three.

Tell us what you consider a benchmark for an 8,9 and 10/10 peformance?

i wasn't critising, sorry if it looked like it. I haven't been listening today, was working, so have only gone by what i have seen on here. As i saw 5's, i assumed (maybe incorrectly) we werent that good, but perhaps lucky, and that's why i was asking.

Pennington will be a really good CB in a few years. Despite being harsh on him when he was at RB, I think he has been very good since his move central.

Wasn't having a go either, it just read to me like you thought the scores should be higher so was curious. Seems to be a tendancy to inflate performance scores on this board, whereas i would consider a 6 as having doing their job. Scores seem fair to me anyway, no clean sheet in 10(?) matches, no head and shoulders above performances although some better displays and a couple of below par efforts

Yeah, that's pretty much my view when it come to doing ratings.

good performance ... fleck ran the midfield, ran his bollocks off and did a good job as captain. Pennington marshalled the back 4, born leader. Good positive changes and subs by Mowbray and actually speaks sense in interviews (not like SP).

After a win we tend to look more kindly at the world in general and an average, adequate but no more performance worth say, a 5 or 6 may sometimes get a 7 in the warm afterglow.

Funny really when results often hinge on a crucial moment as it did this week v Bradford when it could have gone either way if Profligate had buried his chance or Burge hadn`t pulled off that late save.

Fleck as captain was a master stoke. Tony mowbray masterstroke as fleck was good today.

Burge - 8 - he had 15 corners today to deal with and both goals couldn't do a thing about. Saved a fair few and done it well. Great display.

Willis- 7 - looked good. Great cross in for the tudgay header and solid as ever. I'm a big fan of Willis.

Pennington - 7 solid and will be a very good player. Only 20 and is ever improving.

Martin - 7 seems to get a bad rap on here but I like him played well today.

Stokes - 7 first time seeing him today. Likes to get forward and he is better than forest green. Decent left back for us tbf.

Fleck - 7/8 masterstroke as captain as he played up to it and worked his socks off all day. Few slack passes but overall good display.

Gray -6.5 an ok debut with a much better second half as first half wasn't great. He isn't tall or physical sadly but runs and has a nice touch and pass so better than what we have.

Barton -6 was ok but very lightweight and slow. Nothing we don't know. Played right wing today and he did try very hard but very slow and frustrating. Get JOB back fit

Tudgay - 7.5 gets better and better. Played well today. And seems to be flourishing under a manager who knows the game and his display was very encouraging and worked very hard.

Samuel - 4 very poor today and taken off more to an injury I think. Wasn't at the races today for whatever reason.

Nouble - 9 my man of the match ran the show and skinned every player. The goal was the finishing touch of a motm display and the goal typified how he played. He chased down a lost cause and nipped in and Cooley slotted home for 3-1. Best player today for me.

Subs-

Odelusi - 7.5 he is a good player. Pace and excitement and tries hard on the left wing. Needs to start for me.

Jackson - 4 only Had 4 minutes but ran about and looked interested. Again hopefully a real manager can get this guy going.

As I said in my ratings it was the best team performance I'd seen since I can remember, however thinking about it I still think they only deserve sixes as they played at the level they should be playing at every week. It wasn't an earth shattering display it was how Coventry City players should play.
