O'Brien - 6 - Made a couple of reaction saves.
Mason - 7 - He looked a little bit nervous and didn't want to risk it but grew with the game and put some great crosses in.
Hyam - 6 - Did well and won a few headers
Willis - 6 - Was quite solid, obviously not match fit
Sterling - 6 - At fault for the goal but like Mason grew into the game and got forward
Ogogo - 8 - He was everywhere, like a Doyle but better on the ball. Nice bit of aggression too
Doyle - 6 - When did he start taking corners and free kicks? Tried to do a bit too much, a couple of great passes though
Bayliss - 7 - When him, Andreu and sterling linked up going forward with quick touches they couldn't get near us
Andreu - 8 - Can tell he is going to be a big player for us, was confident he would score from the free kick before he took it.
Hiwula - 6 - Not match fit but did show some great touches, should have really scored. Wasted out on the wing though, takes him out of the game if Biamou / JCH win a header
Biamou - 6 - Some good touches and flick ons but stood on his own with nobody else about way too often

JCH - 6 - For a big unit why doesn't he use it?
Shipley - 5 - Not a right midfielder, him for Bayliss with Sterling behind was stupid
Thompson - 6 - Looked comfortable on the ball

Robins - 6 - Dont think the changes were the right ones, should be getting the wide 2 players to play off whoever is central. When they got the first it was clear they were going for it after their subs. Think the triple sub cost us.

O’Brien - 5 - Made a couple good saves but distribution was poor and feel like he could have done better with the second
Sterling - 5 - didn’t look ready, at fault for at least the first goal if not both, hard to justify his selection with lack of preseason
Willis - 6 - Solid enough, needs to get fit
Hyam - 6 - Solid
Mason - 7 - Decent debut, put in some good tackles and looked very determined. Will be interesting to see who comes out on top between him and Brown for the left back spot
Doyle - 6 - Solid enough but moves the ball quite slowly still and doesn’t have a great passing range
Ogogo - 8 - Very good debut, wins the ball well and consistently and passes the ball well too. Might need a more attacking presence alongside him.
Bayliss - 7 - A really good performance, one of the few players in our side who looks to run at the opposition with the ball, will be crucial this year
Andreu - 8 - We’d have gone up automatically with him in the side last year, brilliant player. Should have scored more than once.
Hiwula - 4 - Not ready and not a winger. Really struggled and missed two good chances. Looked better when moved into the middle but need to give him time.
Biamou - 5 - Works hard enough but he’s not clinical or intelligent enough in the final third. Need an upgrade up front.

Clarke-Harris - 4 - Spent more time on the floor than on his feet
Shipley - 5 - Didn’t really get a chance to contribute, not a right midfielder
Thompson - 6 - Played fine

Robins - 4

O'Brien - 5 Needs addressing
Mason - 7 - Good little player.
Hyam - 6 - Decent in the air but got pushed around
Willis - 7 - Started well but faded
Sterling - 6 - Composed with the ball, poor in the air.
Ogogo - 8 - Good performance, faded in last 15
Doyle - 8 - Tried everything to carry us to a point
Bayliss - 7 - Clever on the ball, but not dynamic enoough
Andreu - 8 - Great player. But gonna struggle to position him if we switch to 442
Hiwula - 6 - Looked quick and athletic, poor finishing
Biamou - 7 - Worked his socks off, needs to be more clinical

Agree with most ratings, but I think we need Davies back as Hyam not commanding enough in the air and we will struggle with long balls and big forwards otherwise this season

I agree Nick heard it in the wireless and the changes did very little.
JCH needs to man up as he just falls over and gets very little by doing so.

Obrien 5 some poor kicks and never came up with a big save in entire game albeit with not many shots vs him

Mason 6 started sloppy but grew into gsme well

Willis 8 had a great game for me

Hyam 7 as above but less forward distribution

Sterling 5 clearly has so much more in his locker. Maybe just first match nerves

Aogogo 8 our kante. So be a firm favourite. Good shots too

Doyle 6 did well

Bayliss 6 some real bright sparks

Andreu 8 a class above.great fk and close to many assists too

Hwvili?? 7 quiet at first but j like what I saw. Shows for the ball which is a big plus. Unlucky not to Score at end. Magnificent save

Biamou 5 not the answer upfront. Nice overhead kick but doesn't consistently hold up ball and also doesn't run behind to stretch. Also should have pulled wide during a 3 on 2 and didn't which made andreu dwell on ball till lost it. I like max and we will score goals for us but he is a provider not main poacher for me.

Jch 6 did well and looks pacey. Give him start vs Wimbledon. See if he can make spot his own

Shipley 5 didn't look warmed up

Thompson 5 tough time to come on. Nearly gave away a pen and protested innocence whilst they scored winner

Overall despite some low marks I am happy with the team. Jones Allasani and another striker to come yet. Good squad that will go far.

Yeah, Hyam bullied a little bit, but the ref allowed their forward to deliberately step into him and barge him.

Thought Mason was a bit of a mixed bag. Some very good play, but a number of errors too and while Andreu was indeed excellent, he too often made the wrong choices in the final third.

I thought mason and Ogogo look quality. Andreu is gonna be great and it seems Bayliss is gonna continue where he left off last year.
However, I think we’re missing some height. We nearly got caught out a couple of times.
I also think Robins got the substitutions wrong. JCH can’t do what Biamou does...and I’m not sure Biamou on his own is going to be enough.
Having said that, I think at times we looked really good and seem tougher than last year. If that’s one of the better teams in this league I think we’ll do alright.

Agree. Saw enough there today to make me believe we will have a good season.

Some players being marked a bit harshly. I thought Mason looked really good aside from a couple of errors. Max was great upfront for me, holding up the ball and getting people involved. Main issue was that he didn’t have players around him often enough. Hiwula also looked promising but out wide isn’t his position.

Lack of fitness showed but that’s to be expected with a shorter preseason and a few players coming back from injury. Squad also needs to gel a bit but some promising signs.

O'Brien - 6 - didn't really have much to do
Mason - 7 - Started of very nervy with some poor passes but really grew into the game and looked our main threat down the left hand side
Hyam - 6 - Did fairly well in the air against a big striker in Lee Novak
Willis - 6 - Decent game but rushed a few clearances into the stands when he could have controlled it and played it to someone
Sterling - 5 - Didn't add much going forward and was at fault for the first goal
Ogogo - 8 - Very good game, controlled the tempo of both sides and is very compossed on the ball
Doyle - 4 - Went missing throughout and looked of the pace from the start
Bayliss - 6 - Good link up play with Andreu and a few good runs but he's not a winger
Andreu - 8 - Unplayable today, only fault is he needs to take more shots
Hiwula - 5 - Same as Bayliss he is not a winger, very much a passenger in the game
Biamou - 6 - Did well in the air against two big centre halves and chased down well but was very isolated

JCH - 5 - Didn't really do much after coming on, needs to stop falling over so easily
Shipley - 4 - did nothing other than lose the ball and kick it out of play
Thompson - 3 - Looked decent on the ball but got caught ball watching for their second goal

Always amazes me how fans can watch the same game and have such differing opinions on a players performance.

Mason seems to have the fans spilt 50/50
Think Mason's game was 50/50.

He did some very good stuff, but also made errors and it was more than two of them.

Overall I think he did okay, but he was a bit up and down, hence the split in the markings.

O’Brien 5 weakest link in the team
Sterling 6 think he’s going to cost us a few goals this season whilst he’s learning. Prefer grimmer when he’s fit
Willis 7 played well
Hyam 7 did ok seems to have gained a little bit of pace
Mason 7 few dodgy passes , few goods bits of defending , offers an attacking outlet worry about his lack of height
Ogogo 7 decent game seemed to loss runner for the goal though. But looks like best centre midfielder we have
Doyle 8 played well even some decent passing
Baylis 7 decent
Andreu 7 almost had a great game should have shot first half when opened up, didn’t quite release ball earlier enough on a couple of counters second half
Jordy 7 looked lively could have had a couple of goals which is good sign, keeper pulled off a great save at end from him
Max 6 doesn’t win enough in air or hold it up well enough

Robins should have made changes earlier

O’Brien 6 nothing bad but nothing great
Sterling - 5 didn’t seem to get out of 3rd gear and didn’t seem interested in doing so
Hyam - 7 solid enough
Willis - 7 same as Hyam
Mason -7.5 thought he was terrific, obviously was targeted by scunny and I thought he defended well and looked like he wanted to get forward
Bayliss - 7 when he clicks with andreau and co he will cause lots of problems
Ogogo - 8 thought he was brilliant , tough and aggressive , good passing and knows when to slow play down , looking forward to seeing more of him
Doyle - 6 work rate there as always is , tried to do to much and drag us over the line on his own at points
Andreau - 8 class act and would get into any team in this league and a few above
Hiwula - 6 there’s a good player in there , few more games and fitness under his belt and he will get goals
Biamou - 7 ran his nuts off for us but wasnt helped by the ref being useless and team mates not being close enough to him.

Not bothering with the subs as they didn’t really offer anything.

We will be fine in this league , play like that and when it clicks together we will give a few teams a good hiding

O brien 6 - did nothing wrong although thought he could have made himself bigger for the first. Don't want him as no 1
Mason 7 - clearly a raw player and they targeted him but did 80%right. Enjoyable to watch him and should become q great player for us.
Sterling 5 - didn't impress me at all. Didn't look quick, didn't get past the half way line, didn't show for the ball, didn't take anyone on, out of position for their equaliser. I'm sure he'll come good but with his lack of pre season I'd have played grimmer. I hope this isn't one of them, we have to play him no matter what loans
Hyam and willis - solid enough. Aerially we struggled though
Ogogo 8 - yep. Like him alot. Tired but to be expected. Can play, loves a tackle and commanding
Doyle 6- actually got better as it went on but the first 35 when we were producing one touch classy football he got it and just blindly chipped it forward. Limited at this level but no doubting his will, desire and passion.
Andreu 7.5 - great free kick, great touch, great positioning. In a few weeks time he's gonna be a boss. Should have shot more
Hiwula 6 - should have scored. Good touches, tried and I'm confident will score 12+ at least
Max 6 - tries but needs support.

Biamou didn't hold the ball up well at all. He always has to try to do something with it rather than just hold it for support. Also his runs/awareness don't seem good enough. I realise people don't like Clarke-Harris but he offers more for me. He has strength and a presence and can hold a ball up. He also seems to fit this style of football better.

Not said on here so I might be wrong but Bayliss seemed to dive and look for a free kick every time he was challenged including for their first goal.

Hardly split. Based only on those who gave him a score, everyone gave him a 7 except one person who gave him a 6. Of those who didn't give him a score, all but one stressed positives i.e. sounds like almost universal scores of 7 to me!

Bloke sat next to me stressed that mason had given the ball away “again”. Personally, I thought he was very good...one of our best players.
He also felt that sterling was at fault for both goals.
Did anyone else see a ball sterling played, outside of the right foot that, had he read, Biamou would have been on?

IMO I think the longer the season goes on Doyle’s lack of mobility might be a big issue.

I thought Mason looked very good down the left with a few great crosses, a few people saying Doyle was poor but i think he stepped up his game today to match Ogogo and they worked well together.
