Wtf are you on? This us nothing to do with inside info and I'm not your son. Read my post again. I said Kelly did well. I also said he made mistakes. He did. If you didn't see that then you missed the game. I rated him 7.5 - some on here lose their shot scoring people 2s and 3s and you're pulling me up for a 7.5. Are you pissed? You may have info on the inside son but don't mean you know much. Kelly is the underrated force behind promotion and if you can't see what he brings, then your opinion is worth jack
You claimed surprise at the high ratings for Kelly. It was evident the guy was running the game but you decided to raise the point he was getting high scores.Wtf are you on? I raised the point that I thought 9 was too high, I still do. Imo 10s are reserved for something like a hattrick and 9s are for flawless performances, I rarely give them if you look at my previous scores. It was far from flawless and therefore 9 is too high bit I don't really need to explain myself to you .... son!You claimed surprise at the high ratings for Kelly. Shouldn't that be......Pa?You just did.. Pal
He gave the ball away twice in 10 seconds in the 2nd half which came to nothing, can't think of more? He did have 3 or 4 tame shots but Robins was talking in the week about the team wanting to walk it in and needing to lose their fear of shooting and hitting the ball first time. In this regard I felt he lead by example even if the execution wasn't great. Do you penalise striker's ratings if their defensive headers are not 100% accurate?I raised the point that I thought 9 was too high, I still do. Got box to box all match, passed forward every time he had the chance, won his aerial duels, anticipated the danger when his team mates made mistakes or were caught up the pitch, played the pass of the match out to Sterling on the touchline and turned over a huge amount of possession through interceptions and tackles. Rochdale had nothing through the middle and had to play counter attacking football for much of the match. In terms of a DM performance, it was about as flawless as it gets at this level.
I really like him. Don't know why some are so critical of the bloke. He has a lovely touch at times.Kelly motm by a distance. Absolutely Bossed the midfield wanted and won almost every ball even with his head. Different class. Forget his shooting. The ball of the match was his little lob dink over their defender to put Hiwula clean through first half.
Stockdale 7 - His presence filled the box. Literally. Didn't think he had much to do but did the basics well though - when he caught crosses I just nodded and thought 'good take' instead of clapping like a demented seal when Burge occasionally manages it.
Sterling 7 - He goes game after game without putting a foot wrong but thought he didn't get forward as often as recently today.
Willis 7 - Steady and got a couple of decent back headers in so was pleased his confidence not knocked.
Hyam 7 - Assured alongside Willis.
Mason 6 - Did ok but needs to cut out the needless fouls. Doesn't get as much support on the left as Sterling does from Thomas.
Kelly 9 MOM - Normally takes a game or two to get back up to speed but was superb today. His anticipation of where danger is going to be and his ability to get a toe to intercept a pass are excellent.
Bayliss 6 - Thought he did a lot of good defensive work today and was becoming a more influential attacking force before his injury.
Bright 6 - Slowed down play too much in the first half which allowed Rochdale to regroup and in turn forced the ball out wide to where the fullbacks overlap, resulting in crosses into the box with just 1 striker there. Beats players with ease though which will excite the crowd.
Thomas 7 - Thought he was allowed much more space than recent matches. Wanted to give him 8 but he really has to score when he gets that shot away on the penalty spot. Doesn't seem to get the vitriol that others do for their awful misses, perhaps because he creates a lot of his chances for himself and contributes in defence.
Hiwula 6 - Great run off Baka for the goal but was anonymous first half apart from 1 missed chance. Needs to get in the box more and play with/off the central striker more when he plays on the left.
Baka 7 - Gave the back 4 a hard time and was a dynamic outlet but never looked like scoring and fluffed his one real good chance although I thought was a bit harder than others have suggested.
Shipley 7 - Like last week's 20 minute cameo as a central midfielder, he looked a L1 player when he came on today in the same role. Hopefully Doyle's departure affords him a few more opportunities in his preferred position.
The pitch didn't help Thomas at all thoughThats pretty much exactly how I saw it.Thanks for saving me the effort of typing it all out!
I did think Thomas's improvement today was partly down to the keeper releasing the ball to him earlier. You could see his confidence come back after a couple of long balls out to him where he had time and space to attack the full back.
first half especially in front of our fans it was really bad. His performance yesterday was a big improvement on the last few weeks. The pitch didn't help Thomas at all though
Rochdale's back line did though. Was amazed at how high they played given they were pretty slow and it played right into our hands - thought during the game they hadn't done their homework on us and were as poor tactically as they were individually. Andrew kept pulling onto Mason but they didn't get enough ball to him. Would have switched Dooley onto that side and let him have a run at Mason, keeping Andrew central. The pitch didn't help Thomas at all though
Ratings based on watching on iFollow:
Stockdale 8 - Not much to do, but steady as a rock
Sterling 7 - worked well with Thomas
Willis 7 - kept their attackers under wraps most of the time
Hyam 8 - back to his best form after a couple of poor performances
Mason 6 - some good solid tackles
Kelly 9 - an exceptional performance - took control of midfield
Bayliss 6 - struggled a bit perhaps because he wasn't fully fit?
Thomas 8 - looked threatening and worked hard
Bright 6 - overdid the number of touches - wish he'd sometimes be a bit more direct towards goal
Baka 7 - his confidence appeared to improve as the game went on
Hiwulla 7 - worked much harder for full 90 mins - took his goal well
Shipley 7 - slotted straight in - one of his best performances
Might be a stupid question. But can you watch iFollow for Saturday matches now then?
Ha! Yes.What a difference not conceding in the last min makes to the ratings !
File that under Stockdale. What a difference not conceding in the last min makes to the ratings !
Bright better than most of the other players? How on earth?
Kelly lowest rated? Back away from the meth
It was the left back looking very left footed that got me!
Stockdale 8 - did nothing wrong as far as I could see. Looked unfit though!
Sterling 7 - pretty good. Not to the forefront as much as recently.
Willis 7 - didn't seem in any trouble but worried me a couple of times holding on to it for too long or making avaerage clearances
Hyam 8 - seemed to be the pillar in the defence
Mason 6.5 - looked very left-footed today and his crossing was off
Thomas 7 - always a threat but is frustrating. Lumped a clearance up in the air near the end.
Bayliss 7 - doing his stuff and lost the ball in tangles of defenders' legs less than usual.
/ Shipley 6 - no worries. Fitted in without shining especially.
Kelly 6 - fine but gave it away dangerously a couple of times and doesn't want to shoot when he could. Maybe he does work I don't notice enough.
Enobakhare 7.5 - love watching him, especially that chopped-leg dragback that sends all opponents the wrong way. Question about end product?
Bakayoko 6.5 - not a fan but this was better. Flick-on and plenty of hard running. Still doesn't look good enough overall, but it may come.
Hiwula 6.5 - not a fan, but this was better. A goal and looked lively all game long. Still doesn't look good enough overall, but it may come.
Or, Stocky Stockdale as he's now known.think Stockdale is naturally a big lad
