Players Paid from "Emergency Funds" (1 Viewer)

Did I hear this correctly on the way to the game yesterday on CWR that players were paid this month from Emergency funds held by SISU given the present frozen position of CCFC accounts.

Impact on morale? Judging by yesterdays lack lustre performance by most, it looks like the off field shenanigans may be having an effect despite sound-bites to the contrary?

Yes, that's right. However, the players and staff did get their wages, so I'm not sure that can be used as an excuse.

I dont know if it was emergency funds, but a member of club staff told me they were paid early. Presumably just before the accounts were frozen.

The payments are just being made by sisu direct.

Sorry I wasn't suggesting that as an excuse for the poor performance- nothing could rationalise the debacle of yesterdays game from our perspective.. just wondered if players morale was beginning to suffer and that they had one eye on their contracts and positions?

Linnell said that that because we can't access accounts then SISU paid from a different source, presumably an account nothing to do with the Club.

Doubt the players care where the money comes from as long as it ends up in their bank accounts - as Carsley said last week players are inherently selfish and as long as they get paid (and under football creditors rules they get preference over everyone) they won't be bothered. Yesterdays defeat was down to lack of heart, lack of organisation and lack of ability from too many players.

Sorry, misunderstood. Maybe, but I wouldn't have thought so. They've played under this cloud all season and the Bournemouth performance was solid enough. I think it was just poor tactics from Carsley to be honest.

Yes agreed, the financial cloud of doom has long loomed on the proverbial horizon, but it has escalated considerably over the last couple of weeks has it not?.
Carsley's tactics were clearly not working yesterday, and quite why he couldn't see that and change it was perhaps the most frustrating aspect, the players seemed so flat to us, no spring in their steps- hence the question around morale?

Don't underestimate the performance of Swindon yesterday. Not seen a team press the ball so high up the pitch away from home in a long time. They were excellent as much as we were poor. Don't think the players were effected yesterday by off-the-field matters, but I am sure they must talk amongst themselves and hear rumours so they must be concerned. If you were in their shoes I am sure you'd start thinking about options away from CCFC at this point.

Swindon were the best team I have seen at the Ricoh this season so absolutely take your point.

Largely we were just terribly inept.....................however after they scored the heads went down ridiculously and players seemed to kicking the ball almost anywhere, all composure and confidence went down the drain in an instant.

If you are happily settled in an area with your family on a 3 year contract, getting paid 10k a week and there is very real risk your company will go bust in the next couple of weeks it's going to pray on your mind, especially if you feel perhaps you are currently overpaid.

The fact that this week they only just managed to scrape together your wages makes it worse, better than if they didnt manage at all for sure but it's still very concerning.

I have course have no idea if it did affect their performance but I can see why it would.
