I used to stand in the west stand at Highfield Rd and most people stood up. I personally joined in more with singing and banter with fans (ours and opposition) when being able to have the choice to stand. Atmosphere at the Ricoh is dead and if maybe one stand was allowed to stand up and support the team, i feel it would be rammed and create a better atmosphere within this dead and souless ground........

Just get a ticket up the top of block 15, everyone stands there anyway and the stewards never do anything about it.

It's not the Ricohs decision to make and even if we did that would take up less space so we'd look even more empty! Lol

Safe standing campaigns are going on at clubs all over the country, the chance of it happening though are slim. Why the feck it is considered safe for a team in league one or two to stand but not the championship or the premiership is beyond me. German stadia has shown just how well safe standing areas can work, generating amazing atmospheres

Unfortunately, the Hillsborough disaster will be brought up by a small minority in this debate everytime and despite their argument being pretty much completely redundant, the authorities seem scared to do anything out of disrespect to the families of the fans who died that day. Really grates on me does this argument because the hillsborough disaster would have been just as bad if not worse if the same set of circumstances had occurred in an all seater stadium. It was the sheer volume of people enterring through one section and fencing which caused the disaster, NOT THE TERRACING. People seem to also ignore the fact that safe standing areas are ticketed/limited in numbers so there could never be over crowding
