Honestly I'm more angry at Burnley than the ref

Yes some of the decisions were appalling but you can't send off a whole team for gamesmanship when they haven't technically breached the rules

FIFA should have clamped down heavily on diving/faking injury decades ago by giving out hefty bans, but they are more worried about making sure the football gravy train keeps choo chooing

Faking injury is so pathetic and makes the sport both boring as fuck and a laughing stock

Ask any fan what their favourite games are and it will always be a match where we played brilliantly and played some great football.

I would really hate it if we just totally shithoused every game and played dour football.

It's a bit like how England have been. Not the shithousing, but scoring and then playing really negative football for the rest of the match, trying to protect the lead. Especially when you know the quality of players you have at your disposal.

Nothing wrong with fans wanting a proper game of football to watch.

And look at Leeds, I know they are faltering a bit now, but they have been tearing teams apart at times, with fast flowing, attacking football.

I would hate to see us play like Burnley. I really would.

The game of football is supposed to be about entertainment at the end of the day. Winning, too of course, but the quality of the game is what really keeps fans going up year upon year.

Imagine taking your kid to their first ever game and the difference between a really exciting win and a really dour, non-footballing 1 nil win.

Nothing can beat that joy on a kids face when we win and have played well to boot.

How many 1 nil, really dour wins do you truly remember?

At the end of the day, it is all about balance and at times you do have to play quite dour football. But that shouldn't be the mantra and the plan to play like that every week.

I really hope we never turn to that way of playing football.

Our time has to be now. If we don't make it up Saddles contacts have already said some big players will leave and we will be back to bedding in players again with no idea if they will fit in. The 2 most likely to leave are MVE and Wright.

MVE makes Tats a better player and without him he looks 1/2 the player. His speed bails us out both defensively and going forward.

If you lose your best goal scorer it's really hard to replace those goals from the off. Whoever comes in has to hit the ground running and not take 1/2 a season to bed in.

I'm fairly relaxed about the player situation if we don't go up. For me MVE will be the biggest miss, as he's class. We would, however, have a decent squad to build around. Let's assume Sheaf, Wright and MVE go. Grimes is a ready made replacement for Sheaf. We will still have Tats, EMC, Rudoni, Simms, Torp, plus Vik's money, on top of the sales from the 3 departures, I can't see anything other than a positive season in the Championship next year (assuming we don't go up) We have no loans, so are not trying to replace them (like other clubs will have to). We know we will have to address some areas of the team, but with confidence in ST sales again next season, and the ability to attract players (Frank/CBS atmosphere) I'm already looking forward to it, regardless of the outcome of this.

I think Parker is doing a good job, they probably our top defensive but my impression is he is coaching them to play as they would in the Premiership.

If Leeds get promoted, they’ll struggle playing as they do against Prem opposition. The same was true for Kompany’s Burnley, Martin’s Southampton and Maresca’s Leicester (there’s no he’d kept them up).

FIFA isn't the issue here, it's the refereeing in this country. In the previous two world cups the refs have been perfectly happy to let play continue while some fanny rolls about in faux agony. Every time a world cup rolls around the refereeing always stands out to me (sad I know!).

Time wasting can also be controlled by the refs to a degree, start dishing out yellows for players taking the piss and it would soon stop.

We escaped relegation one season with truly dire games against Stoke and Luton. We won both and any fan would rather we had won a dire game than lost trying to play attractive football.

I thought Burnley were pretty impressive and I’d swap

One of my stand out games was a dire match at Highbury when Dave Bamber scored a winner against any odds possible with about 200 fans in the away end.

I don’t remember any exciting games we lost with any satisfaction

But that wasn't a team that specialised in winning ugly. Far from it, but you can't win them all with free-flowing attacking football.

Burnley *are* side set up to win ugly, and instructed to do all they can to disrupt a game, not all of those things within the laws of the game.

Would I want Burnley's success? Of course. Would I want to watch a team that is set up to play that way every week? No. Would I make the trade off of their success for turgid football every week? I don't know, to be honest; games like that are hard to watch even if you're winning.

Was I impressed by them? It's hard not be impressed by a team that's only conceded 12 all season, and you can see why they've achieved that. They were nothing to write home about as an attacking force, though, and one thing's for sure, they're not going to get away with being that next season.
