Old Cov, yes, new Cov, no.

You do know we've only lost only 4 games out of 23 don't you! :)

It feels really nice saying that doesn't it.

I would play Tudgay.

Tudguy ahead of Fortune if he is going to pick one of them today.
I would prefer Maddison Armstrong and Murphy. Vincelot and Fleck/Biggi behind them.

Today is a day for JOB. We generally miss him when he does not play.

I agree we look a poorer side without JOB but I get the impression that he's not a Mowbray sort of player. Whenever he plays him he's constantly shouting for him to get back into position because Job seems to follow the ball.

Today i'd go standard back 7 but then-

Murphy - Maddison - Armstrong
Fortune

I prefer Tudgay as an all round player but the last time we had a game like this was colchester and Murph and Fortune were great, have MAF hold the ball up and play Murph and Armstrong as inverted forwards not wingers. That should open a tricky defence up, especially with JM in the team. JOB, Kent and Tudgay options from the bench to change up as I don't think we'll see Cole today

Last game Fortune started(Colchester) he was man of the match.
Don't get all this dislike for Fortune. He's had some very poor games yes, but he's also done pretty well in 2 or 3 games too.

I trust TM and if Mowbray thinks he can do a job for us then so be it.

I don't get a lot of the extreme dislike of our players, Burge, Bigi, Fortune etc.

I know they all have frailties, but Burge is still young and Bigi hasn't been as bad as some have been making out.

TM has realised that RCC is the better keeper and Bigi has had to play out of necessity and has only been here 5 mins. We need to give him a chance and as I say, if Fortune is selected, I trust in Mowbray's judgement.

Am 100% in agreement with you cov boy, ideal game to give the hard working Tudgay a run out.
Not a fan of Fortune by the seems to be in favour and to me it's a wasted shirt, we need players who will put a shift in at this time of the season.

Correct Otis. Don't really understand the jibes at bigi. Good player and looks better now than with us before. Great replacement for fleck.

Also fortune is hit and miss he has always been like that. He is either brilliant or crap. Tudgay seems to have fallen off the radar and not sure why. Not sure what's he has done wrong but AA needs to start as he is a match winner.

RCC

Phillips Ricketts Martin Stokes

Fleck(if injured Bigi) Vincelot

Job Murphy Maddison

Tudgay

You would play Maddison on the wing? He isn't a winger, you either play him in the number 10 role or you don't play him. Such a waste

Only thing I would say on that one is that Armstrong is only 18 and we don't want him to have burn out. We have to manage him carefully, so it may well be we have to rest him here and there, as I am not sure he can play a whole season.

I don't dislike fortune. I was just very impressed by the way tudguy came on against Barnsley got hold of the ball. Calmed everything down and organised the attacking players. He used the ball a bit quicker than Fortune. I have been impressed with Fortune's strength when I have seen him.
Thought he deserved a go if that style of player is to be picked.

He has to play behind Armstrong those two will be thinking on a different level.

I know a flat roofer who is good mates with JOB. Mowbray keeps telling him that he don't want to give him full games as he's saving him for Xmas period (now) as he knows how busy it is and with him getting older don't think he can play 2 in a week with his work rate etc. so after missing out Saturday I would expect him to be starting today! Was also told he was fuming when got subbed off against Sheffield United as he thought he was the best player out there !
Pusb 2-1 win today for me !

Otis would you not start Tudguy then and do you agree with Fortune getting much more game time than him given overall
performances from both this season?

Yep, accept Fortune getting more game time, but I think TM sees him as stronger and a better target man for when we pump the ball long, especially kicks from the goalkeeper.

Tudgay and Fortune are two different types of players.

The way Port Vale were pressing on Saturday the obvious substitution for that game would have been Fortune, to give us some chance of winning the ball in the air.

Think it depends on the circumstance. How do Chesterfield play? I think I heard talk of them approaching this game by playing on the counter attack. If that's the case, then Tudgay would probably be the best option.

I think Tudgay has done well when picked, but I do see them as two entirely different players not to be compared.

Fortune is the type of player that plays with his back to goal.ie a target man he also holds the ball up pretty well too.. Tudgay must be well short of the dreaded 'match fitness' by now and doesnt seem to be on TM radar.. time for him to go to free up wages and get someone in that does fit the TM way

Tudgay, 100%. He's a better 'second' striker, better out-and-out forward, better technically and he's more intelligent with passes.

Personally, I think TM and MAF are friends and it's getting in the way of him dropping him. Maybe he's promised him X-amount of game time, I dunno.

from what ive seen tudgay is miles better at holding the ball up than fortune

fortunes best game at colchester he played more on the left with murphy upfront

They did in the first few games but haven't interchange that much since Kent and Murphy have been here. They tend to spend 70-80% on the wing, occasionally cutting in when running with the ball.
