Hopefully now Lampard can see what will be his first choice starting 11. Will be interesting to see what happens when Wright is back.
Eccles motm.
Bidwell great to see back.
EMC Becoming first name on the teamsheet.

BTA I would certainly try to move on

Lots of solid performances. Hopefully a few of you who are pro Sheaf anti Eccles and vice versa, can now see the merits of both. I thought the two of them were outstanding. Probably 9 for Eccles, 8.5 Sheaf and a mix of 7s and 8s for the rest of the starters. Norman a bit below par, but worked hard.

Eccles motm, hes now scored 50% more goals than Simms this season!

EMC continued his good form, and the defence looked much better (although they were rarely troubled by a Plymouth side that are nailed on for the drop)

Good to see some fringe players getting a run out!

All in all the perfect response to last week's debacle. Hopefully Lampard now knows our best starting 11.

Dovin 7

Hard to justify higher, not much to do except for a decent save in the first half. Clean sheet, hopefully builds some confidence.

MVE 7

Control him down a couple of times but totally in tune with Tats. Good overall

Thomas 7

Easy day for him.

Lati 8

Clean sheet, defence looks far more solid and presses the midfield.

Bidwell 8

Solid. Got forward well. Better with him in the team - he’s a grown up in a young team.

Eccles 9

2 goals and should have won a pen.

Rudi 6

Thought he was quiet - not a bad performance, obviously, just quiet.

Sheaf 7

Some delightful play but I still don’t like this run-one-yard-forwards and then pass backwards thing that he does.

Tats 8

Goal and a decent display.

Bassette 7

Ran well - not much product

EMC 8

Looking better.

Subs all 6

FL needs to get hold of BTA and tell him to calm down a bit and he might be able to hold the ball better and get off better strikes at goal.

To be fair when he was called to make a save of a shot going to his left he got there including one great shot from Josh going into the top corner of the goal, when the shot was on his right he failed to make a shot.

Thought Eccles, Mason-Clark and Latibaudiere were really good.
Sheaf improved as well.

Can't fault Bassette's work rate and attitude, but game tends to pass him by a bit at times.

Good to see Kitching back. Would like to see him get a start soon

Thought he was really good today , although should have played Tatso through in the first half

Should be putting BTA on the transfer list in Jan see if anyone would take him. Use the funds elsewhere.

Failing that, maybe try Vinted. Thinking we can still put him on with a ‘new without tags’ condition. See what offers we get.

1. MotM Mason Clarke even though he went off at half time. Frightened the shit out of them. About 70% of play in the first half was in his quarter of the pitch. 4-0 when he was on, 0-0 when he wasn't. Eccles got two but their goalkeeper should have made a better fist of the first one and Eccles was just his usual self in midfield and not much more.

2. Rudoni continues to impress me. Superb ball retention - and that matters.

3. Lati - also had a good game. It is unfortunate that our best leader is not a nailed on starter.

4. Bidders is my comfort blanket. He is just so secure. No stress, no anxiety.

BUT

5. Still not enough quality output from the Tats / MVE partnership. Tats still too unwilling to go for the line, hard to believe but I think that were there a satisfactory alternative his place would be in jeopardy.

6. Sheaf too content to showboat from the uncontested deep midfield

AND

Bassette v Simms is a close call. Stormin' Norman offers massive amounts of energy but lacks the necessary finesse for this level. Simms has better brains, more control and height but lacks the pizazz. I'd probably reverse them.

Think that's a bit unfair on Sheaf.
Didn't think he did a lot wrong off the back of one of the most gutless performances you'll ever see on Saturday.
I'd still get rid, too many unacceptable performances from him this season.

Well Frank Lampard doesn't seem to think so, don't forget he managed Simms at Everton. 🤔

That's incredibly unfair on Sheaf based on today's game Got the first assist with a great left footed cross, played forward a lot in the first half, it was his long diagonal to Bidwell that started the move for Eccles first goal. And kept us ticking over sitting midfield allowing Eccles and others to bomb on. It was almost like having the old Sheaf back today.

Sheaf had a great game today , 145 touches today that's a hell of alot .

The problem with Eccles is consistency, as too with Sheaf of late, if he could raise his game to the levels he was at today he would be a great player for us, maybe his bar was raised because Sheaf performed well but a great team result against a shockingly bad Plymouth side and 3 wonderful points to boot

Dovin 7 - I really think he will be a very good keeper. Very comfortable with the ball at his feet but not casual (as is Collins). His save in the first half was top draw.
Van Erwijk 7
Thomas 7
Latibeudiere 8.5 (uses his body so well. An intelligent footballer)
Bidwell 7.5
Sheaf 8
Eccles 9 motm
Rudoni 7
Sakamoto 7.5
Bassette 6

Torp 7
Simms 6
Thomas-Asante 6
Allen 6
Kitching 6

I wouldn't give Bassette more than 5, his decision making when he had the ball was dire.

Interesting in his post match interview that Lampard said he'd not seen much of Dovin.
I guess he has so.much on his plate he was focussing elsewhere.
Probably trusted Rhys Carr regarding Collins😙. Let's hope that nonsense is over....
'Apparently he's a good keeper'
'I've not seen much of him'
'Let's spend a few mill on him' wait what

When Dovin first came Robins gave an interview which suggested he hadn't seen much of him.

It's quite strange given what a problematic position it's been that no-one seems to know much about him!

Not seeing it yet with Bassette…. Yet I said that about EMC.
Bassette is constantly on the move, pulling their defenders out of position and creating space for people like Rudoni and EMC - both of whom look better players recently.

We looked less of a threat with Simms today again - although tbf the game was dead. I am deffo not giving up on Simms but I do think Norm is worth persevering with. Got a lot to learn clearly but for me, he causes defenders way more issues than Simms does.
