All a bit of a storm in a teacup (with all due respect to the lad who got hurt).
Local derby always going to bring out a few loons (half of who don't actually fancy it!!).
We go through and get Leicester it'll be the same, Blues go through and get someone like Chelsea or Utd and they'll have a turnout of people looking for trouble.
Now we'll have weeks of garbage about the "Zulus" are going to team up with Sunderland when they come down in a month's time.
This isn't the old days when you got chucked in the cells for a few hours or at worst a fine off the magistrate. Most of them have long since woken up to the fact that there's serious jail time involved and walked away from it. It's why there's handfuls involved now compared to what it was in 70s/80s/early 90s.

Cov and Brum are massive rivals, its one of our closest local derbies

I’d say it’s a bigger game for them than playing most of the teams in the Championship but we’re quite a distant fourth behind Villa, Wolves and WBA in the rivalry stakes

I think the uniqueness of the situation on Saturday was always going have a slight edge to the game. It's a big shame some of the 'lads' came out to spoil the occasion but really there is no hatred or real rivalry from Blues fans towards us and vice versa. Hopefully everyone will have calmed down in time for the replay.

Yes absolutely. And I'd take issue with any suggestions St Andrews is unsafe for 29'000 or can't accomodate that many in future as a couple of folks have suggested. Lack of familiarity with the layout and a balls up by the people in charge were what led to any excessive queueing - not the numbers allowed entry.
Fact is more seats at the back of the Gil Merrick are covered up now than was the case 5 years ago so Gil Merrick is 1000 seats less than previous.
But even taking that into account, whoever was in charge of allocations made a right mess of it. There were well over 2000 empty seats at that Gil Merrick End on top of the 1000 covered up seats and the idea to keep Tilton turnstiles closed was ridiculous too. Police obviously wanted a spillover area for both sets of fans. When and where has this ever been needed before????

There was always potential for aggro Saturday plenty of Johnny concretes on both sides up for it, our time at STA so far has been okay largely peaceful and well received by the locals I just hope this doesn’t alter that for the rest of our time there. That walk to and from ground to Digbeth might become a bit dodgier.

Could have sworn he was the gaffer...complete false memory then... was that when we seemed to be getting a bit of a reputation and the United lads got done there?

WBA is a good natured derby too as we both share a common hatred for Vile & the dogheads/dingles. As someone mentioned above, Baz has links to Cov, and some the more successful old Zulus now live in Cov post codes. I think one also has a cousin who was Section 5 (Baggies).

Now Vile on the other hand. They close most of the pubs half way between the grounds after the 'Battle of Rocky Lane' (Youtube), which pisses me off.

That was very public spirited of them to be handing out Knives.

None of the violent incidents were caused by banter in the ground. Was all good natured.

The violent incidents were obviously committed by people not at the game. Think most folks in the Blues end were season ticket holders. I saw no bother at all Saturday, Head of Steam had plenty of Cov fans in there, Digbrew was rammed with about half and half (I even spotted a scarf) the Dog was busier than normal for an hour and a half after the game too. Heard a load of Police sirens on my walk back towards Digbeth (assumed WMP were hypeing it up) from the away end and a bloke in the Dog told me there'd been something going on along Digbeth.

Didn't feel like a moody atmosphere in the slightest until I heard the sirens but I suppose it helps knowing Digbeth like the back of my hand.

Pay on the day for the replay I reckon. Just get people in the ground. Tenner. Kids for a quid

Spot on. I met some blues mates in Henesseys pre match (kept my allegiances to myself !!!) and walked up with them, there was a few wrong uns around but didn’t see any trouble. After the game I was in the Old Crown and then a couple of other places in Digbeth as I live in Birmingham...there were a few Cov and blues fans and didn’t see any problems

It’s never nice to hear people getting hurt and best wishes to the lad who got taken to hospital but it appears to be a few idiots. The banter wasn’t the reason, it all appeared pretty light hearted in the ground.m, I think blues fans were more pissed off with how they didn’t turn up second half (and how we dominated them ) than any songs we were signing

Ps Great to hear a big City contingent getting behind the team, hope a few more turn up for the league matches !

Just got a message from fellow sky blue & she told me the police blocked the road after the game & told them they'd have to wait there for 35-40 minutes. Some fans headed off in other directions but she along with the rest including families decided to wait and then flares were being thrown into them from behind the police so they dispersed to the back streets of small heath for safety. Who the fuck takes flares to a game, fucking mindless idiots?!

Probably nobody as they don’t work without flare guns.

Just saying what I've been told so maybe they had flare guns. She said the police did nothing about it & she won't be going to the replay

Seeing as a big proportion of BCFC fans seem to think it’s 1978 maybe she said they were all wearing flares

I think your friend has made the common mistake of confusing a smoke bomb with a flare which is the point I was trying to get across.

Funny that when Cov fans have used them they have been demonized called everything under the sun on here.
But it's ok when the dirty Brummies do it.

Dirty Brummies? WTF?

Looks like Blues have completely misjudged the interest in the replay and pitched the tickets at £20. I don’t think that’s a bad price but it’s enough to put a lot of ours off.

Cov will sell their allocation but there’s no way we’ll sell out.

Whoever plays Leicester in the next round I hope they smash em in revenge for their total fuck up in the league cup semi. Gonna be unbearable listening to the goons today.
