Who would you rather have at the Ricoh next season, Marlon King or Ann Lucas? Ann Lucas ( Part of Coventry city council ) had vowed not to come to any games while Marlon King is playing for CCFC so if you had the choice who would you prefer to see at the Ricoh next season..

Options

Marlon King

Ann Lucas

Neither

Marlon King because it makes absolutely no difference to the club, the team or me if Ann Lucas don't turn up next season or ever, was just an excuse to get her name in the paper.

Balls, voted for the wrong option. Disregard the one vote for Lucas!

I've heard some very interesting things about our dear Councillor and suffice to say, even if it wasn't a player of King's quality, even if it was Kevin Kyle we wouldn't be losing anything worth much at all.

Neither! King hasn't done enough imo to earn a new contract, although he was part of a team that played very well today, so the last few fixtures may change my opinion. Cudnt give a monkeys about cllr Lucus, and whether she wants to go to matches or not. If shes so much of a fan, why have the rest of us managed to get on with goin to games while he's a city player yet she can't?? We don't need fans like her!

It's about success of the fottball team and Lucas will not affect that unless she lobbies against the Ricoh being sold to CCFC!!

I voted for Marlon but the choice I wasnted was not neither but BOTH! Marlon obviously hugely influential and more important but a sad state if someone can't support their team because of an individual (if they were really a supporter and not trying to sway public opinion as a councillor). We need Marlon and we need fans.

Easily Marlon, whatever off field issues he has, everything he does on the field is a class above most in this division. Even today when at times his touch was abit sloppy for him, everyone knows he is capable of changing a game.

Also met his dad today - an interesting character!

Agreed! Maroon has had his troubles off the pitch but when wearing a sky blue shirt his work rate is excellent.
Hes one of the best players we have. Had a chat to 2 Watford lads today and they seemed to suggest he will probably leave end of season now that Aidy has gone.
Hopefully Sisu will be able to keep hold of him as would be a shame to lose a player like him

There has been a lot of disrespect to the Councillor who simply took an honest moral/ethical position-- one I hope most people would actually understand and applaud (even if they took a different football based view).

I hope she returns-- a lot of Cov fans didnt want King here-- and he has created quite a few problems -- which some people seem bizarrely blind to (he should have been fined for the recent 2nd sending off for instance).

This is the funniest thread on the forum.

Blindness cuts both ways. Some people have been "bizarrely blind" to how well MK has played.

GPE. That really is quite an offensive statement - the councillor "took an honest moral/ethical position" but other people took a "different football based view".

In my view, once someone has served their sentence they should be allowed - actually encouraged - to get on with their lives. I understand that it's called rehabilitation. I think you may even find that it's a key objective of the justice system. I consider that to be a moral position, so please stop claiming some bogus exclusivity on the phrase.

I think there's blindness all round.

Anne Lucas has been involved in the station campaign and is well known as a City supporter, whilst I think that when a person has been to prison they should be given a second chance, lets not close our eyes to King's obvious temper issues.

Watching King play he does have a bit of class on the pitch, but I'm not going to close my eyes to all his other faults because of it. What Ms Lucas hasn't made clear is where she draws the line on her morality. I don't recall her objecting to Kevin Kyle or Dennis Wise, both of whom have been in court for violent behaviour. If it's only hitting women she objects to, then I'm afraid she is a hypocrite.

1. Smileycov. The problems MK has caused?.. serious disruption to a team that was actually doing pretty well (the existing strikers 'treading water' when he arrived and was getting fit, treading water when he got injured, him getting suspended for 6 games, the fan divisions and diversion for the the likes of RR). The fact is we did worse after he arrived-- not all his fault by any means-- but certainly a factor.

2. Nick. Not sure how much song and dance Ann Lucas made-- she didnt make this poll for instance 6 months on/or the many other threads like it (which no doubt still aims to have yet another dig at her-- and why no 'want them both' choice btw?)

3. Tommydazzle... you miss the point. I am not personally claiming anything, I am just saying Ann Lucas made a honest moral/ethical position on the issue of a repeat woman beating offender who continues to deny any wrong despite being found guilty. I dont think she deserves abuse for that for months on end. By the way you do realise rehabilitation is usually based on someone accepting responsibility for their actions right??? King never has.

and why people keep digging up this issue I dont know..

GPE - I think you miss my point.

I accept that Ann Lucas took a moral position.

Your comment seemed to be saying that people who disgreed with her were ignoring the moral aspect because they were more interested in the footballing position.

My point is that it is possible to take an opposing view on a basis that is equally moral - but from a different perspective.

I know I have dug this one back up but if she didn't want the publicity then she would have made her decision, not attended the Ricoh and kept her opinions to herself instead of running straight to the first newspaper who would buy her story.

Wasn't a dig at you.

It pops up every now and again - just that I'm fairly sure that everyone has a pretty firm view where they stand on the issue by now.

I know she didn't make the poll I just meant at the time it happened

I support City, players come and go but even if we signed Gadaffi up front it wouldn't stop me from going. I wouldn't be happy about it but it is still my team so I would be there in the Champions League Final or when they are playing Copsewood on a Saturday.

If either of them wanted to watch a game at the Ricoh it wouldn't bother me.

If they wanted to play for the team I wouldn't fancy that though.
