So we had a game where (by all accounts) we should have won, followed shortly by a game which we surely should have lost. We were lucky to not conceed a penalty early on today, had three ruled out at Bolton. As they say, what you gain on the swings, you lose on the roundabouts...
thing is i reckon i would rather take 8pts and come off a draw with 9 men away to pompey rather than 9 pts with a 3 nil win over bolton but loss to pompey away
As oggy said last night on the radio ,with regards to the Bolton match, our performance with 9 men was very similar to boltons performance against us where the players absolutely bust a gut to get a result, as oggy said if we had played them a game later they would have been absolutely shattered and the result would probably be very different ,as it is we will never know ,but I think he made a very valid point

On the face of it yeah weird but I get what you mean. And way earlier in the season (maybe too early) but last night had the feel of Mansfield away from promotion season 2 yrs ago when we equalized with 10 men - JCH pen if I recall?

2 dodgy referee performances in the 2 matches with the biggest partisan support/loudest atmosphere. I wonder how much influence that pressure really has on refs at this level. Bolton fans were just ecstatic to be playing and then a Portsmouth full house. Last night's ref has gone from 3500 at Salford, 6800 at Southend, 8000 at Swansea in EFL Cup, to 18500 at Portsmouth with a side making the most of every challenge.
