‘Bring it on’ says upbeat Coventry City boss Mark Robins today of Wembley play-off

Asked if he was concerned about players such as McNulty leaving in the summer, he said: “People will be interested in him anyway. It’s the first time he’s played south of the border with consistency. He had been loaned out to Portsmouth and Bradford but he’s started to work harder with Michael Doyle’s boot up his backside.”

Of his Skipper Doyle, he said: “He’s a top player. He’s been a leader. He’s very competitive. Even when he goes for a walk he wants to be first and he’ll kick you if you walk past him. He expects the same of everyone around him.”

How can anyone not love Doyler? The man's a winner. I was in a real minority that didn't want him to leave years ago. I love players like Bayliss too, but you can't afford players like him in the side without a Doyle to do the other parts of the game.

Denis Wise tought him the dark arts, Doyle looked and listened, made him twice the player he was. Every team needs a man who will get involved in the rough stuff and upset the opposition. Hope he can do it next season.
