Is Joe Cole actually that good? He is 36 and got zero pace. Just saying.

He's 33 and at no point was he some kind of glorified sprinter.
Whilst I will trust Mowbrays judgement, I would be worried about signing Cole. He's well past his sell by date, and hasn't really done anything to note when he's made his more recent moves (Liverpool, Villa etc). Whilst I get that those clubs were, and still are playing premiership football, out of him and Eagles, I suspect he would be the one that would turn out to be a Sherwood / De Zeeuw signing, just on a lower and more reasonable wage.

Ricketts is 34 already and he's doing alright, I don't think age is all that much of a factor.
