No different from what most owners/directors of other clubs say. There are at least 18 clubs in the this division all claiming to be genuine promotion contenders.

Could have been Brody. I thought it was in an exchange on the radio before RR came on to respond to some things said. I wish I had a copy as I'm sure it talked about investment and budgets, buying the ground and a host of other stuff. Not sure what's happened since then. I know they used teh global recession for the initial budget changing, but this was only a few short months back.

Everyone in the club needs to stop talking promotion. Operation premiership got us into this debt, so i dont want another situation like that again. Lets just aim for a solid mid-table/top-half finish. Once we have that, we can build on it. I'm all for being optimistic and ambitious. But promotion is just not going to happen within the next 2-3 seasons.

No one should have talked about promotion full stop. We had been a relegation side for most seasons since 2001.

Fans need to come to terms with the state the club is in.

Survival this season is paramount but then again, that has been the realistic objective since we dropped from the Premiership.

I still believe relegation is inevitable. But even if we avoid that, promotion to the Premiership is not going to happen for years/decades.

I agree survival not promotion is our goal but as fans we "reap what we sow". We have a fickle fan base Man City, Leicester, Norwich and Sheff Wed all were drawing bigger crowds than us in the first division (& in the championship the season relegated). As a potential investor in a club i would look at the fans as a partner and see what they were putting in the pot. Unfortunately to paraphrase the Leicester fans today "our support is f***ing shit"

This is where Ranson and SISU fell foul. They saw a club with a new stadium (albeit not owned) and the potential for a solid fan base. But they failed to do their research. The Coventry fan base, as you suggest, is not reliable.

Anyone who runs a Championship club can say that just because they're simply in the league below the Prem. Blackpool are viewed by many as well-run financially but had it not been for an amazing managerial appointment and other circumstances then they would have most likely be in League 1. There's a chance that Coventry will win every game for the rest of the season and promotion to the Premier League will sort out our finances but board's shouldn't say that unless they're going to provide the backing that's needed to give your team a better chance of winning promotion.

It was Brody, in his interview with CWR the night RR was in the studio, but not allowed to speak to Len himself (that woulda been fun).

It was the same interview as he promised the "franchise player", and said the replacement for King would be "at least" of the same quality and value. He also said we'd have at least the same budget as last season.

When asked if there was a timeframe on his stated goal to get us up, I think Clive said "2 years?" and he said "at the longest..ideally one". Most of the interview was about buying the arena, "maximising revenue streams and the market brand of the club".

Lies, lies, SISU lies. 3 week since his last Twitter activity now, is it?

Covey1987, don't like the language you use to say it but agree with all you say above. The stayaway fans, they've been staying away for years now, with all the excuses, should look at themselves and see that they are the real investors. Great fans, great team. It aint rocket science. I'm not knocking the loyal hardcore fans, great & especially the few hundred who travel to away games. It's a modern disease, people always want to blame somebody else, the board, the manager etc etc. I'm not supporting Sisu either. Our fans should be the real investors. Get behind your team and help them.
(But it'll probably be a chorus of 'why shouldI?')

If your saying that we should accept that we are nothing more than a bottom end championship club then don't expect anything more than bottom end championship attendences.

Since moving to the Ricoh we have always been a top half club in terms of support, how often has the team given us a finish to justify that?

But we are a "bottom-end of the Championship club". For the first time in a decade, fans are beginning to realise it. Getting expectation levels down will help end this cycle of emotion that always ends up in despair and disappointment.

We're not a lower half of the championship club in terms of support, stadium or training facilities. Our first XI is not bottom-end IMO.

It's our finances that are bottom-end, and that's because SISU haven't managed to secure ownership of the Ricoh.

We have a very good fanbase just waiting for something worth turning up for.
