Take it from me, Steve Waggott dictates almost 100% the players we can and can't sign, this is where I fall out with Steven Pressley, he should have the balls to say, forget the so-called official reasons given this is the main reason why Robins pissed off so early. What I believe Waggott does is mass signings, mainly freebies, hoping to pick the one little gem he can cash in on later.
I don't think we have the information to have an informed view on this really. If Pressley has been resourced decently and he has built this team believing it would do well and that the players he let go were due to him thinking that was best rather than because he was pressured to get rid for financial reasons then clearly Pressley has done horribly, however if he had little choice of decent player, had to buy crocked, bad attitude, not wanted players + loans and was forced into releasing people like baker then we can't judge him at all really. To me the later situation is more likely but I'm fully aware I could be wrong and if I am then my opinion of him changes completely.
But there is another question. I know this won't happen but if we recruited Tony Pulis as an example and said okay Tony get on with what you have player wise, no recruitment whatsoever signings or loans, I believe he would get us winning more than we lose fairly quickly, wouldn't be pretty, pretty football or easy on the eye, but it would be effective, win games and points. The manager makes the difference between being okay or crap.

Yeah, on the face of it, pressley's underachieving. The club's general trajectory is down though. We've had blips under Black, Adams (Dowie?), Robins and Pressley, but they've been half season blips before normal service is resumed.
So in that case, changing the manager might see a shift in results short-term, but unlikely to fix things long-term.
So then if Pressley is on board with a youth policy and building some kind of foundations, the only reason to get rid of him is if someone else can go along with that, but also improve the first team results long term.
And our history suggests they won't.
But, again, we're not exactly overachieving on the pitch atm... and it's so dire to watch as well, we can't even pretend we're being entertained!
You are correct northern they all had blips, all manager do, but this blip is now well over twelve months long and involves 32 new players, 32 ffs!, I haven't looked to check but I bet if we took the last 46 league games into account we would be well stranded at the bottom of the league and remember that league is division 3 !

Pressley would probably be better in some sort of role with the youth team, maybe academy manager or a role in restructuring the academy and making sure there is an easy route and transition from the youth to first team. Little things like he has been doing like training with the youth players, using the same facilities as them like changing rooms, eating with them at lunch etc.
Just don't let him anywhere near tactics or recruitment.
