Probably not, but I don't think he's quite high-profile enough for the Celtic job... yet.

There is nothing to indicate that Mr Pressley would be interested in the role, let alone Celtic be interested in Pressley..

John Barnes didn't think so!! Celtic play in the Champions league almost every year, they are still one of the biggest clubs in the world - FACT!!!

Correct......the only challenge for the next couple seasons as Celtic manager is avoiding death threats & the like from the other set of religious bigots......

SP played far more games for Rangers than Celtic so I doubt he'd be welcome anyhow...

Yeah...but Barnes was in charge when there was TWO teams that could win the title.....its 100% easier now don't you think.;)

Celtic had competition from the Rangers when John Barnes was there. Lennon's had an easy time of it. If he gets a job in England we'll see how good of a manager he is.

SP has got a fighting chance of being considered for this if he goes for it. The only thing I could think of that may put him off is the fact he knows the Scottish league is pants and i read somewhere once that he wanted to test himself in England after his time at Falkirk. I am a bit worried about this.

He has no chance at present, maybe in 3 or 4 years.

I love how on one hand people are saying its an easy job any idiot could do but on the other saying SP has no chance and he isn't ready for it!

What would you prefer, a couple of easy years at Celtic playing in the Champions League and winning trophies then a move to a Prem or Championship side or sticking it out here hoping we might get our act together at some point? If they express any interest in him I think he would be mad not to at least talk to them.

Why on earth would Pressley be even considered?

How high profile was Neil Lennon as a manager when he got the Celtic job?

Well he'd done a pretty decent job as caretaker manager there before being appointed, and had the added bonus of being skipper and playing a couple of hundred times for them.

No disrespect to SP, who I think is doing a good job here, but in Celtic terms Lennon's profile is probably slightly higher than SP's handful of games played for them, and suffering relegation with Falkirk as manager, perhaps.

Yep i'm sure League 1 is a bit more high profile and 45 - 60k at celtic park is nothing compared to 2k at sixfields or wow, 6.5 at Oldham!!!

I know what you mean Duffer. It's just that it was Lennon's first full time managerial position and all it really proves is that almost anybody can do that job at the moment with no Rangers. It's certainly not a glowing tribute to Lennon's skills as a manager and to be honest I cannot stand him.

With regard to Pressley getting that job, I have said before that he is a chairman's dream. Wouldn't demand a big wage, can work on a shoe string and likes to bring through youth and lets be honest their youth team could probably win that League.

Looking on one Celtic forums poll the fans favourites are.

1) David Moyes
2) Malky Mackay
3) Henrik Larson

SP ain't even getting a mention.

Post = horrible bloke

Edit: to clarify, I am not a Celtic fan (a large amount of thie support do the Irish no favours). Reason for post was the tramp reference Those, like Duffer and myself with and Irish background, will understand the offensive nature of the comment.

I wouldn't dispute any of that gent, it's just that I think Celtic would expect to appoint a 'big name'. I'm not saying it's right, mind, I'm just saying that for that reason alone I don't think Pressley has a chance of it at the moment.

I should add that despite having Irish roots and some sort of notional allegiance, I'm not really a Celtic fan. I've no bother with those that are, but I don't use it as a badge to celebrate my 'Irishness' as some in the city do. (Calling them tramps is ridiculous, btw). If I was to dislike Rangers (which I don't, incidentally) it would be because of the crap* that they've sold my club - Coventry. ;)

* Colin Stein excepted, obviously. :)

I'm a Rangers fan (part of being Irish)...I can deal with them winning trophies...bit like us and Leicester.

But take a look at the two links I've just posted....

Fair point about the videos

Tbf, I don't like either Celtic or Rangers, but would dislike a lot more fellow fans if I witnessed this happening at my club. And I'm sure (might be wrong but fairly unlikely') it's the fans who behave like this rather than the club itself so only really covers one of WEA's points :)

The kits not that bad. Just a green version of QPR ;)

David Moyes would be a better bet. Right sized club.

Steve P still needs a few more years before he is ready to step up anywhere.
