I think it comes down to circumstances, I personally don't have a donor card simply because it's one of those things you mean to do but never get round to it. It is easy to say my organs could go to someone.
My 4 year old daughter, I.don't think I would want her organs being taken.
Not wanting to offend anyone - my belief is that dead is dead & a bit like a scrapped car...anything you can salvage & make use of again you can bloody-well have as far as I'm concerned...it's no good to me if I can't make it work.

I am the same when it comes to me, I don't think what you have said would offend though.
I saw something about an alkie getting a transplant but drinking again and dying anyway, I'd be gutted if it was my loved ones liver given to a waster to destroy!
Alas you don't get any choice over who the organs go to-could be someone who's lived a good life and needs it to continue, could be an addict who will just waste their second chance. The science is still a little primitive but hopefully in the not too distant future artificial organ growth will be a viable technology to relieve pressure on the donor system.

it's still a better option than your loved ones liver being eaten by worms or maggots no? while there is always the risk the person who you'll save will waste their life that doesn't seem like an argument against giving to me. Especially as if they feel someone is likely to relapse into drugs or alcohol they are less likely to receive an organ or even removed from the transplant list completely.

why? you would put her in a box and burn her, or leave her to rot in the ground how are those better than her saving multiple litte childrens lives?
I'm all for presumed consent actually I'd go further than that personally but I could compromise at presumed consent as long as they aren't checking with the loved ones at death.
