quite so Don, good points,
why was the rent never challenged when they took over ?
who let a succession of misfits be controllers (Clouting, Dulieu, Brody, Igwe, Fisher) ?
& exactly what would the food & beverage profit amounted to ?

The club themselves said they didn't want a sliding scale rent that went down if we went down. They preferred a fix rent.

SISU knew what the rent was.

SISU in my opinion when they agreed the HoT to buy the Higgs share. I feel they were privy to financial information that made them realise that they could make ACL a distressed company by withholding the rent.
I think this due to the fact they could never agree a rent dispute it coming down and down. I think they set a figure they knew ACL could never go to.
That is until the council did what they did then ACL suddenly reached that figure.
The next red herring was the food and beverages, that was over come.
Then the major plan kicked in kidnap the club.
They are still waiting to try and pick ACL up as a distressed business
Reunite with the club and sell it to get back their investment.
So when the council try to outmanoeuvre them I can't feel sorry for them no.

Unfortunately the outmanoeuvred bit we were talking about was a direct result of the rent strike.

The over charged rent you refer to was preferred by the pre SISU football club over the sliding scale rent that was proposed.

SISU were not blind when they bought the club they were fully aware of what the rent was and agreed to it.

Mis-managed the club failed to achieve any success.

Then the rent become the complete and utter sole total cause for all of Coventry's financial woes.

That was until a dirt cheap rent was offered.

Then food and beverages become the sole complete and utter cause of all of Coventry's financial woes. That was until 80% of that was offered.

Now SISU have finally all but admitted they just want the Ricoh.

Yup don, the goalposts keep moving.. and as I pointed out the other day the time taken to build the stadium has drifted out too.. from "within 3 years" to "within 5 years".. somehow I think it will be back to "within 3 years" in 4 years time.. when several land purchase deals have fallen through & planning has been refused.. well we'll all have to wait & see what actually happens..

Hi Weeman, long time since the Telegraph days, how are you keeping?

I have a slightly different view on the Ricoh/ACL/CCC set up to you. I think the rental was set at £1.2m because a quick return to the Premiership was envisaged by the then owners of CCFC. The rent then would not have been a problem and
would have given the CCC a return on it's huge investment. However I do agree that for a mediocre Championship club
it was always going to be a problem, and without F&B and other match day revenues the further relegation was inevitable.

Sisu have no interest in football--Coventry or the fans, their sole interest is how much money they can make from a distressed business. They have sold every player they could and have not invested in the team in any way.Their big
mistake was in not conducting a thorough enough due diligence before buying CCFC, had they have done so they could
have had a rent review before agreeing the purchase.

It is high time Sisu & CCC got together to sort a rent out that enables a return to the RICOH and the club to make progress, this cannot happen while Joy Seppala insists on outright ownership of the Stadia because this will never happen.

I'm well thanks for asking Fred, still beavering away on the South Coast. How is sunny Morecambe these days? Hope it's holding you well.

You're right about a quick return envisaged. And I don't disagree with your and Don's thoughts really...I've said on this thread that when the club was purchased by SISU, that due dilligence wasn't completed effectively and they didn't research all particular scenarios (the negative ones).

JS and TF have admitted they made mistakes...does that get them off scot free? No, off course it doesn't. They've made many mistakes and are probably the main reason why we are where we are. What grates me is people painting the picture that they're the only reason we are where we are and that the council and ACL are innocent in all of this.

Like many threads, this could be the old one armed wheelchair scenario...just go round and round in circles. There will always be fans who see things differently....the only thing we want is success on the pitch.

On a lighter note, I've been impressed by SP and am hoping for another 3 points today!

Respectfully,

WM

Pretty much summed it up, I don't think anybody says that sisu have never done anything wrong but people get so wrapped up in hate they can't see the other factors.
