I don't think he referee should do the time keeping it should be somebody sitting in a room watching the game and then a buzzer goes off in the stadium to t everybody know, the ref has enough to do
Bit different though I think. Doesn't Clive Thomas blow for full time as the corner comes over in 86?Happened in the 86 world cup, of course...

Tbf in Hockey once the buzzer goes that's it. Doesn't matter where the puck is. Never get any complaints.
In football it seems like a grey area. Should be one thing or another. I think the law states that 'once the time has finished the ref can blow but can also use his discretion' or something like that.
He blows AFTER the player shoots though. You can quite clearly hear that. The player shoots and THEN the whistle goes.Speaking as a former ref the only thing you can prolong the game for is a penalty. In this case though it is just very poor judgement by the ref to blow the whistle when someone's about to shoot from 10 yards. When I was training we were always told just to use common sense when the laws were vague.

This happened at a kids game week before. There was a full on Brawl with 21 kids involved as one of the opposition parents was reffing the game and did it to stop his sons side conceding an equaliser. Not nice at any level of the game.
Technically if time is up the referee has done nothing wrong, however most referees are taught not to whistle when a clear scoring opportunity presents to avoid this sort of controversyWhat is the actual rule? As much as the attacking team were pissed off if time had been reached then that's it isn't it?
