I need your help. The mrs and I and a few friends love to do a good pub quiz, however It seems like every one I do nowadays there are people cheating on smartphones. The final straw this week was when I challenged a guy who had his phone out and he simply responded with "I am looking up the answer"

I have been to the Campbell, The Hollyhead, The Cocked Hat and The Rose and Crown in Stoke and have noticed a similar trend.

Does anyone know of anywhere that a quiz is played in good spirit with little to no cheating? or better still some kind of professional quiz where phones are banned altogether as I am just getting fed up with losing money to cheaters.

I thankyou in advance for your assistance.

We used to love a decent quiz too but the cheaters have spoiled (spoilt?) it for everyone and for prizes barely worth winning too. I know loads of people who used to go just for the sport of it but don't bother any more.

I can't help you with where they do it as I don't live in Cov but what pubs need to do (maybe suggest it to your local landlord) is to have a hands up system or people out at the front in a knockout or something diffferent to keep it entertaining and stop them cheating. It's a sad world that people have to do it but I'm sure there are ways around it.

The pictures of mixed up faces is always a good round to include and a few obscure things about local history that can't be Googled is another, but an adjudicator and hands up to score points or moving from table to table in a round robin means a quizmaster can prepare a usual set of questions.

Let us know if you find a decent one and I'll organise a team to come and whip your asses

Cheers Rob, I think its 'spoilt'
I think you are right. I even found out there is an app now that you can take a picture on a picture round and it finds the same picture online . Also on sunday there was a music round where songs were played backwards and the team that had been winning all through the quiz only got 3/10 whereas my team got 8/10.
I did a professional one with my old job where everyone had to put their mobiles in a clear plastic bag in the middle of the table for the whole quiz, sadly this is probably the future for pub quizzes.

Oh and BTW... Bring it on!

That's just sad ~ what is the point of entering a quiz then looking up the answers ?

Incredible.
