It's not a charity, it's a commercial private limited company. And the Higgs contribute nothing to the running costs and take nothing out. So how were sisu trying to distress a charity?

Maybe so. But I would bet most people care about the things that affect them EVERY day such as those things I mentioned. When money is tight as it is now people don't mind cuts to services as long as it doesn't affect them personally.
The area I work in has been savaged and volunteers do jobs that we used to do and a lot of staff were eased out in a "restructure". Although the staff are outraged the users of our service couldn't care less as they don't know who is a paid member of staff and who is a volunteer. Makes no difference to them. But a bit more money is shaved off the Council budget.
I think people care about everyday things not football stadiums they may never go to.
Whether they care more about 1 thing or the other is irrelevant. I still think the people of Coventry would support the Ricoh becoming a community asset.

Are you saying this is false and they didn't want what Higgs paid 6m for plus more for the price Joy wants which is nothing? They then moved on and want the whole thing for not much more. And people like yourself would be happy for SISU to get the whole thing for as low as possible thinking it will help our club. This includes the Higgs share. All it would do is pay out their investors. SISU could have had it and the income that came with it. This is when they started their silly games. You love saying the opposite of what people know as the truth. Fair play to you.

There is no sporting franchise there, so no income from that nor any community sporting usage
The site generates its income from rents derived from a casino and a hotel, business conferences & meetings, trade exhibitions, associated retail activities, car parking, commercial business sponsorship and the odd pop concert. Since it was opened has the majority of its income been derived from the football club? at face value the accounts do not seem to indicate it to be the case. Does the stadium area form the majority of the site?
Not sure it is going to be that easy to register it as a community asset. If it did then that gives the registrant 6 months to bid for ownership not a guarantee of ownership. That six months could get in the way of anyone that is interested now (be it SISU, Haskell, Byng etc). In SISU's case as they own the club that means at least a further 6 months at Sixfields with all that such a delay means. In the case of the others such a delay could put them off. If the Trust register it then could the Trust raise the capital to win the bid?
Such registration applies to the freehold or the granting of any new interest in the land (ie a new long lease). So you could have it delaying a simple lease. If say the Trust got the freehold how would it pay for the loan to buy it? The freehold carries no right to income or rent.
That is just some of the obstacles ........... assuming the application is not challenged.....
