Can anyone else remember ex-City players running pubs in or around Coventry besides George Mason and Jim Holton?
When I was a kid, I seem to remember folks talking about a pub in the Marton or Long Itchington area that was run by an old City player. Anyone know who that was or of any others?
Used to see Kev Thornton (in a pink suit once) in Ikon/Diva. A few times I saw Gunnnarson out in Crosbys with Jordan Clarke & a few others. Still see Baker out in town now in Club M or Heat. Saw Marcus Hall in S7VEN about a year ago. When I was younger I met McSheffery in JJ's. he had 2 'minders' with him. Met Sammy Clingan in JJ'S every week on a Sunday (only place open on Sundays in town) - Gael Bigiramana in the cottage not drinking. Craig Pead in Leamington once he was a top lad. Lloyd McGrath runs the Hawksmil Club seen him in there a few times.

When you say minders were they a couple of big black guys? Might be the same ones who used to look after Thornton. Was always funny seeing him start a fight and run behind them.

Walked into The Duke in Leamington last year before a night out and saw Cody McDonald and Gary McSheffrey smoking and drinking on a Saturday night after we had lost at home and they had both been on the bench and not come on. When I tried to walk over to ask why they hadnt come on I was told to fuck off and leave it out by a rather large friend of theirs.
Probably explains the career downturn they both experienced with that attitude and actions.
I have seen Ben Foster in Smack in Leamington on two occasions, although not a coventry player, he was good laugh and was buying people who recognised him shots..
