Or maybe it's because there are a lot of shit teams in Div 2 !
At the weekend we were just 1 point off the automatic promotion places.
If we had won today we WOULD have been 3rd, but here we are, in 7th and clinging on to that last play off place.
Massive loss today.
A win and it would have been
1. Luton 51 pts
2. Notts County 47 pts
3. CITY 41 pts
4. Lincoln 40 pts
5 Wycombe 40 pts
6. Colchester 39 pts
7. Exeter 39 pts.
We of course lost though, so:
1. Luton 51
2. Notts County 47
3. Lincoln 40
4. Wycombe 40
5. Colchester 39
6. Exeter 39
7. CITY 38
Still eminently rectifiable, but just think how buzzing we would have been with that first scenario. Confidence sky high and real belief and an automatic promotion place and still just 6 points behind Notts County.
Who has said it is?But still only two points of third place going into January? It's hardly over is it?
Who has said it is?
I am merely pointing out the difference today between us winning and losing I'm terms of the table and the fact that we can't keep doing this.
Two wins on the bounce at home, two defeats on the bounce away.
Hence I said DAY, a devastating day. Not talking about the season or the rest of the campaign to come, I was talking about today."Massive" "devastating" it's not like there are just two games left though is it?
Shows how sometimes just a single win or defeat can change things drastically. If Accrington & Mansfield had won we would have been 9th at the end of the day!
Not sure it is. It reinforces that long-held belief, born out of bitter experience, that whenever we're on the cusp of something really exciting, we fuck it up big style. We're not consistent enough for an auto spot, and the play-offs will be a real scrap. Unless MR invests wisely next month. PUSB.Devestating is a bit dramatic
But there will be soon let's hope results like yesterday are not reflected on saying that's where it cost us !"Massive" "devastating" it's not like there are just two games left though is it?
But certain posters were saying that we have a great team........except when we lose of course and then it's the managers fault every time ??!! I wonder who the scumbags will cash in next month then ?I think I said this to you Otis about losing today in the 'happy thread' and again correct, the league is very tight, we are away again Saturday so it has to be ' a must win ' else that happy thread looks even more ridiculous and premature as it was. I have learned supporting the club to be realistic , we have lost ground and the pack will form and pull away , we have to be in that pack or we have to wait another season to see. This is the easiest league to get out of in promotion terms so we should really be moving on. Yes it can be rectified to a certain extent but we cannot afford carrying on like this, it will cascade to we can make the Playoffs then we are safe etc etc its poor as we are a poor team filled with only a couple of decent players.
Yeah, might be dramatic, but I felt devastated too.Well I was devastated yesterday same as I am every time we lose.
A game we should have won Port Vale are a poor side even for this poor league.
You should know by now every year it goes tits up after Xmas.Yeah, might be dramatic, but I felt devastated too.
Really believed this season would be different, Dave. You should know by now every year it goes tits up after Xmas.
That's in a nutshell, isn't it? After a couple of good results you'd think confidence would be high and they'd be up for beating a team in the bottom half, and then they go and play like that. That's why I had no qualms about joining the Checkatrade Sky Blue bandwagon at Wembley - for once in my lifetime (apart from the glorious exception of 1987) we didn't revert to type and swept all before us. Fantastic day. I don't get the same feeling in this league campaign. Hope I'm wrong. Hope you're all enjoying yourselves, despite the football!Yeah, might be dramatic, but I felt devastated too.
Really buggered up my Boxing Day. I was in the car with my daughter and was happily enjoying the day and listening to the match commentary, but the moment Port Vale scored I sensed we would lose and immediately switched off the radio.
Changed my mood in an instant. That'll teach me for being cocky and thinking we were building something and on to something big won't it.
Was convinced we would pick at least a point up yesterday.
What I don't get is that in the last two games we were scoring goals and creating chances and looked very good coming forwards. Yesterday we barely created any chances at all by all accounts. That's in a nutshell, isn't it? After a couple of good results you'd think confidence would be high and they'd be up for beating a team in the bottom half, and then they go and play like that. MR is to over cautious if you ask me we will not get a consistent run going whilst he worries about who and how they are setupNot sconsistent It reinforces that long-held belief, born out of bitter experience, that whenever we're on the cusp of something really exciting, we fuck it up big style. We could have been 3rd, but ended up 7th.What a bloody nonsense this is. We lost against Port Vale... Friday we beat Wycombe... We are in the play off spots, and around the final automatic spot. Where we have been all season. It wasn't a devastating day in our fortunes, nor is the next game crucial for our season.

Should not BE in too bad a position providing the January dealings are effective.
But there will be soon let's hope results like yesterday are not reflected on saying that's where it cost us !
Expected promotion for me and Mark Robins has come out and categorically said we are the best team in this division.I suppose it depends somewhat on whether you started the season expecting promotion or thought we might have a chance of it.
Please please, please, let's not have another Mowbrayesque meltdown and slide into oblivion.I start every season full of hope and gradually its knocked out of me
