Genuine question now, what the hell has happened to him?

Reminds of the Arsenal player, Inamoto I think. Every pre match press conference, a Japanese reporter would ask "Inamoto, play?" Every week, Wenger replies "No".

Did okay eventually with Fulham from memory.

The more time goes on the more I start to think there’s some weight to what someone hypothesised on here about it being a visa thing

Saw him last week in Leamington - I said hello and asked how he is doing and when we would see him on the pitch.
Nice guy - says he is very close and hopes to run out for the U21s soon / says he can’t wait and is frustrated the way it’s worked out so far but he seems quite positive.

May have also passed him in the street at some point.
Still absolutely no idea who we're taking about.
Is this a Juilan Gray mk2 thing?
Not that Julian Gray has left of course.

Junichi Inamoto. I randomly watched him score a hat trick in the Intertoto cup final for Fulham v Bologna. Probably the best day of his career

Yes but that was months ago. He did his hammie first pre season game and looks like only just back training with the first team.

I know a lot are being negative but I’m being positive. He is a player who has talent and is young. He got injured in pre season and looked good in the training videos. Bags of pace and tricks. Got injured and recovery has taken a while. Robins said it’s very different here in terms of the rigours v Oz. So they’ve been working on his fitness to extend his pre season in essence. Looks like he’s training with the 1st team now which is good news.

Wasn’t he the Ninja Turtle that was always up for a scrap?

Wasn’t he initially signed to be thought of as a development player but someone on here suggested he’d impressed in training with his ability (pre injury)?

Sounds like we could see him if he can get fit. But that’s an if, could be a Hilsner mk2?

Hopefully he isn’t!

I thought it was weird that it was suggested he was part of the first team squad, thus adding that pressure. Looked for all the world like a development player to me.
Good luck to him.

What’s the hypothesis? Surely he needs a visa to be in the country?
Yeah I think he would need a visa just to work here from what I know. If it was a visa issue, he would more than likely be on loan to an Australian side to build appearances. Also if we assume Torp and saka are our designated European players, we would have an additional space.

Inamoto is still playing now, at 45. Has had a respectable career, with a few big European clubs, but seemingly hasn’t stuck around for long.

With all the background staff and they still can't get him fit, playing, and he was our first signing in July. 😞
