if 2012-13 was a 5 then 2013-14 must be a 4

Probably a 6 !!!

A numeric rating is so different depending on how you look at the question as to be completely pointless.

Coventry City Struggling to stay up in league one with all evidence pointing towards us getting relegated next season = terrible

Staying up when starting on minus ten, with hardly any resources and massive turmoil = excellent.

So was it a good season on the pitch for the sky blues? not in the slightest, did we do very well considering the situation, the turmoil and the restraints absolutely.

Poor. Bottom of the table form post Boxing Day. Lowest finish in over half a century. Just shit.

Still, off the pitch the future looks bright. Oh.

Oh 2/10. Purely for the Clarke/Wilson partnership pre-christmas.

First half of the season 8/10. Great start with a small squad and kept it up until Clarke left.

2/10 after Clarke left. Managed a couple of wins when they were needed but hardly anything else.

Well its a fact with factors.
5 for me.

4/10 recognise the minus 10 deduction but some of the other teams in this league are very poor, such as Walsall who if they are the 13th best team in this league then staying up with -10 is not really an achievement. 77 goals conceded very poor.

I'd go in the middle, so 5.

Has had its highs; been a long time since we've seen such an attacking team that we seen (or read about in some cases) early on. So good to see our goals 'for' column so full with high numbers! Also, the way we recovered the -10 and the speed we did it was excellent. Give us another deduction and I doubt we'd repeat that feat!

It's had its lows; the second half of the season was dire. Was it because of the off field problems? Was it because our tactics were worked out, and it became apparent (similar to the Thorn days in some respects) we had no plan 'B'? Or is just our usual inconsistencies coming through, and this time there was no recovering from them?

I guess we'll never know.

Onto next season when we will really get to see what we can achieve on the pitch without the worries off it (yes, unfortunately SISU will still be around, but let's club together and support the lads........who am I kidding? )

a season of two halves with awful and battling in both,but for the sheer entertainment value of Walsall away ,mk away ,wolves away got to go for a level headed 6,

Overall 6. We overachieved in the first half of the season before going on our customary second half slump. Before the season kicked off many had us down as relegation certs, and avoiding relegation was the overall aim, which we achieved.

Some brilliant football early season but Poor defensively throughout the season, and poor in attack following Clarkes departure.

Overall given the quality and strength in depth of our squad we did ok.

I don't think all of the team is shit, just the majority of it. I don't think that Pressley is the god some on here make out either, Could it have just been luck with the Clarke/Wilson partnership? I suppose we will see next season but I don't see this season as a success at all and if the defence is a barometer then in the words of RFC.....HELP!

The word everyone is stretching it a bit.

When we signed him we were told that he is good at using youth in his teams. But not very good at signing decent players. We had youth in our squad and team. But we didn't have any choice about that. We had some poor signings, especially in defence. Was that the fault of SP, SISU or the vast majority of us not going to Northampton?

Another way to look at the season was that we played 46 away games. But our support got behind the boys more in the proper 23 away games. We kept hearing that playing in Northampton never made any difference to the players, but we were getting comments from SP and the players saying the opposite.

So yes a poor season altogether, but most of us knew it was going to be hard once the injuries started. So everything considered not good but could easily have been worse.

Don't score too low as next year will be worse.

How do I rate the team? About the same as every season since I first supported them in 1963 - average - 5/10 (except for 1970 & 1987 which would have been around 8/10 and 7/10 respectively)

Its a 5/10 for me.

The football up until Christmas was good, some real excitement but it masked the defensive frailties that were never properly addressed all season. Had Wilson & Clarke not clicked then we would have been in real trouble. Good to see some goals from the likes of Moussa too but at this level you would expect more goals from the defence & midfield wouldn't you? The League wasn't that strong in my opinion and we ended up with less points than the previous year when we also had 10 points deducted.

The Sixfield location, the youngsters, the off field stuff, the loans etc all come in to the mix but we are not the only club with some of those factors (Obviously not so public for others) in the end nearly all clubs struggle with their finances although hardly any (none?) struggle with their location

Its hard to assess SP. Somehow you expect an ex centre back to be able to get a defence organised. By that I mean the team as a defence not just the back four. Yes we played good attacking football that was at times really good to watch but I still come back to the amount of goals conceded in an average 3rd Division. An attitude of we will score more goals than you is fine but in the end over the season we didn't. Never going to be easy with a lot of young lads in the squad for sure but some of the decisions made left me wondering why? The loan signings were a bit hit and miss too and left an overall impression that they were not in general good enough or perhaps not the right players to play the SP system. Yes there were injuries and suspensions but that's the same for all teams. The last couple of months just seemed a little muddled. Given better financial support it would be interesting to see where he could take us but that rests on solving the dispute.

"change the culture ...... bring a winning mentality" not sure that has happened because like so many other seasons the team has faded after Xmas in a big way. There doesn't seem to have been the change touted. Just seems to be more of the same to be honest - but change takes time I guess

Young players run out of steam (more mentally rather than physical) and need periodic rests. Young players are not so conditioned to the rigours of L1 football, and are still developing physically. Yet we were able to operate in the loan market to ease that with a disappointing level of success.

Of course the 10 point deduction has an effect ..... to begin with it seemed to galvanise and make the group battle on .......... but by March it had started to become a millstone and over emphasised in my opinion. The transfer embargo didn't help and left us playing catch up at the start of the season, the same excuse couldn't be used for January and the subsequent loan period however.

Next season could be harder still because of the finances available to SP. Which ever way they dress it the budget has to have been reduced from the budget set last summer. The crowds are very low, that knocks on to sponsorship, F&B, other income, cant budget for Arsenal every year, and there might not be the player sales (only significant sale could only be Wilson and we are assured it wont happen), there are no add ons from previous sales that we know of to come in next season etc etc ......

Am trying not to let the off field stuff colour my judgement of this year (like many others I feel ground down by the dispute and bickering going on) but I just don't see this season gone as a success. We survived, that was the target and we achieved it - well done but ......

I'll admit to a slight nagging worry at the back of my mind that Pressley is another Thorn who has got a squad to do what's expected under tough circumstances so he gets a lot of praise. Then when the pressure is off he can't step it up.

I worry about how he lost players like Moussa towards the end, some of his more erratic selection decisions and the general motivation shown by a team that could still go down until the last couple of games. It doesn't fill me with confidence. To give an alternative explanation for our early form, I wonder how much was lead by the passionate, Coventry based, young players along with Clarke's form. Pressley failed miserably to keep spirits up after Clarke left (and in fact, failed to keep Clarke).

But I'll remember the first half of the season, put my sky blue optimist hat back on and see how he does next season. I just worry we've seen a lot of form and not a lot of class.

Post Christmas form gives serious concerns for next season.

No embargo at least means we can try and pick up new faces. Yes they will be frees and out of contract players, typical for Lge 1 clubs, but at least we won't be restricted to entering the market when just the dross is left. However I feel the off field politics and uncertainties must make us less attractive to players.

Another tough and depressing season awaits I fear. The best news I can find is we still just about exist.

would like to agree, but cant.

a lack of strikers cost us post xmas. Even if we were in play off hunt, playing Jorrdan Clarke or out of form loanees up front is never going to keep you there.

perhaps he wouldnt have left if were close to top 6 at that time though?

its all ifs and buts in the end. who knows what would have happened.
