Must confess I didn't exactly complain when Thorn was made manager, but I certainly didn't vote for him. Think when he was first brought in my immediate thought was that he needed an experienced manager or assistant manager alongside him, who had learned all the ropes, as his second in command.
what made any of you want Thorn as manager, the bloke looked like he had rolled out of the cherry tree after every game and the way we performed under him we most likely had
I can't quite understand the animosity against Strachan? He spent what 5/6 seasons in charge? (a long period by management standards) and we had some great times and some great football under him. Yes it went wrong at the very end but as we see now the backing to keep us in the top flight was not there. It was some of the most entertaining and sustained period in the top flight I've ever seen.
Others such as Robins were here only 5 minutes. Black too while fondly thought about was in charge 5 minutes.
Listen this was put up for a bit of fun and banter. Those that want to exude loads of critical comments based around others choices is not what it's all about.
I think the highs with Strachan were simply slightly better than what we had previously accepted as the norm'. The lows however were both in much greater number & significantly worse than what we had come to expect as a low.
He just didn't seem able to blend the team together well, or consistently.
Butcher was too egotistical got Rid of Regis when he had just brought non league Paul Furlong who would have been a much better player had he been allowed to play alongside him, Andy Thorn next and then Phil Neal for me
