Erm, I don't think people thinking we have a realistic chance of relegation is overly optimistic!

Anyway, lots of people saying we have to improve our away form - boy do we! BUT, last 3 home league games: 9 points. Get your home form sorted, which we seem to be doing, and it could breed a bit of confidence to go into away games with. People also saying next 3 games are important, I'd say the whole of February is vitally important. If you look at all of those games, they are all winnable.

If we maintain our home form and learn to win away, we'll stay up.

If not, we won't. Forest Away is a big game, as is Blackpool Away just to keep the momentum going.

9 games ago after brighton away we were 6 points from safety, we're still 6 points from safety. We still need at least 26/27 points from our last 19 games to get to 48/49 pts to stand a chance - thats at least 7/8 more wins between now and the end of the season.

One bird in the hand is worth two in the bush as they say but we will need to to follow up yesterday with the same commitment, the same form from the likes of Platt, bell and McSheffrey. A consistency we have failed to produce all season. So I'm not expecting it to happen if I'm honest.
At Blackpool we will face a side who are like the charge of the light brigade at home and to win there will need a special performance again. Don't be fooled by Ipswich's plight either. they have a good squad and are due some change of fortune. We have to be on our game 100% by taking yesterday as a key element in adding much needed confidence to the team. I remain optimistic and would love to see the great escape but fear it will be a bridge too far now...

News on BBC South tonight is that Pompey's administrator has said they face a likely winding-up order from HMRC in the next few days for unpaid tax bills. So they would be facing liquidation, ceasing to exist, which would not be a points penalty but would - I think, but am not sure - mean no more matches and removing their previous results from the table.
I really hope this does not happen - the idea of Portsmouth losing its football team is appalling. It also shows that going into administration is not something to do lightly!
Hopefully, the administrator is saying this to put pressure on to reach a deal, but let's wait and see.

As a litmus test of one's sporting morality, as I agree, any community losing its team is abhorrent; however:

I would care not a jot if they went bust and we survived. Morality? They will only go bust if they have spent above their means.

Just checked Pompey's results. Would be very good for us. Millwall and Ipswich would both drop 3 points, leaving us 3 points off safety.

It'll never happen though. No-one would let a club that size go out of business.

of course there is a chance ........... BUT

we need to win 9 out of 19 games (or equivalent)
10 of those games are away
unless we regularly win then the pressure will increase
the next month might appear ok in terms of who we play but we are talking ccfc here - we have a reputation for under poerforming against teams we should beat.
The tougher the games the more important the depth of the squad - we dont have much depth

Good result on Saturday and a real lift for everyone

It is usual for the form of all teams near the bottom of the table to improve as the season nears its end.

We may well play better but in all likelyhood so will the teams down there with us.

There is a disctinct air of excessive optimism about, it will be nice if we consistantly pick up points from now till the end of the season, but it is not a given..

Wouldn't wish Potsmouth to go out of business or even to admin but if it meant we were not relegated I think every football fan in the country would take it to save there team.
