Pretty well documented that Badlan was responsible for the Gus signing. Appeared he left to better himself and it went pear shaped. Vic, Wilson, Fadz, Allen, Godden, O'Hare and Sheaf were signed during his tenure. I get it is a team effort from the recruitment staff through to all the coaches and Manager, but that is some success on a shoestring. Ok there were a lot of dodos too but apart from Walker don't think we spent much money other than on wages. Even the catastrophic failures, you can see the logic of why we signed them. Kastaneer and Hillsner had been brilliant youngsters and even Waghorn seemed a good shout at the time. Taking into account Adi's Chelsea input, I wonder if the new team are better, same or worse. Obviously having fund helps and Badlan was more about consolidating in the Championship than building a team to get promoted fairly soon. What does the team think?
Finding those gems made all of this current spending spree possible. That recruitment team have proved thier worth. Time will tell if the new team is as good at finding the future gems.
