Not a very hard game for him to control. Neither team seemed really into it.
Missed one foul throw in the first half when a Luton player took it in a full sprint.
McFadz penalty. I've watched and rewatched the replay. I think it he leaned and played it fair with his shoulder. Can't tell if it hit his arm on the way down. Once the ref decided penalty it had to be a red. I did notice that Kelly was directly in the ref's line of sight so there's no way he could have been sure it was a pen. Hard on McFadz.
Dabo commited a foul early in the second half, the ref played a good advantage and I was sure he would card Dabo when play stopped. It was almost a minute until the ball was dead which may have saved him.
The commentators thought Luton's second yellow was for kicking the ball away. I think it was for the original foul but a little harsh.
He gave us one free kick in the second where the players ran into each other. I thought there was nothing in it and the ball went behind anyway so he really didn't need to make a decision.
Overall rating 7. He was good but I took one off for the pen based on the fact that he had no line of sight.
I think this guy is one of the better refs in this league. He’s had 3 fairly good matches this season when he’s reffed us. Not sure if it was a penalty or not my first reaction was it was shoulder. However if the ref thinks it was handball then he had no option to send him off. Don’t see how you could say he has no line of sight only he can say that surely.Yeah it wasnt a pen
He might have, they have mics to talk to each other.Sorry not impressed - he could have asked his Lino about the penalty which was game changing - he protected their keeper at the corners and free kicks and not Wilson
Didn’t notice that. We’re there some questionable ones?Sorry not impressed - he could have asked his Lino about the penalty which was game changing - he protected their keeper at the corners and free kicks and not Wilson

Did anyone watching the game live think it wasn't a pen and a red card at the time? Even having seen the replay I'm not convinced it doesn't hit his arm.
I thought it was initially but don’t think so after multiple replays.Did anyone watching the game live think it wasn't a pen and a red card at the time? Even having seen the replay I'm not convinced it doesn't hit his arm.

This is it isn’t it. At the time and at real speed I’m sure we all feared the worse and it was a pen, having seen it now a number of times it looks we like were unlucky I think var might have ruled no penalty but not 100% sure of that. What it has highlighted is the it’s handball, on the goal line, a penalty so red card. That rule needs looking at especially when handball is given a lot easier nowadays.Did anyone watching the game live think it wasn't a pen and a red card at the time? The two Wilson went up for he needed to make more of the contact. The one their keeper went up for he jumped up and dived after the contact late in the second half and got free kick straight away.Didn’t notice that. We’re there some questionable ones?
Agree 100%. Dropped this pic in the match thread at the time but there’s no way he has a clear view of that handball - he probably can see the arm stuck out, though

Looks like it in the photo but he was sort of bouncing while walking rather than explicitly jumping. Is the ref jumping?

Yeah, you might be right.
The think is, it looks like McFadzean leans into the ball to try and stop it, which I think is what incriminated him even if it didn't hit his hand.
The Luton commentators were going mental which kind of affected my take on things, but I can see why it was given. I actually think that ref is pretty decent compared to some of the ones we've had.
Let's be honest, if it would have been a Luton player then we would have all been calling for a penalty. I can definitely see why he gave it even if it is touch-and-go when watching the replay. The Luton commentator was a clown - like having a fan on the mic - and the pundit with him was so dull, offering zero insight.Agree. He was really good in the Watford game, particularly liked how he let Østigård & Deeney battle without blowing for constant free-kicks etc.
On the penalty, he's got himself in a great position but then when Kelly & Hyam move in front of McFadzean there's no way he can tell for sure where it's hit him so made a guess based on the movement of his arm & the reaction of the Luton players imo.

Yeah it wasnt a pen
I think the evidence Re his line of sight is pretty clearHis line of sight is totally different to yours watching a stream.
I doubt he has thought, I think that was handball, I think it might have been delibrate? Ooo better give a pen and send him off.
Refs get one shout and the rest of us make decisions after constant replays.
But yes, I do think it was a harsh red and pen.
