I mean yeah if he’d been impeded fair enough he wasn’tI read somewhere that it was suggested their keeper was impeded but I just can't see it... Coventry v Sheffield Wednesday controversy: Ex-PGMOL chief on 'rare' incident
Me neither.I'll have to rewatch it again I watched it about 5 times and just don't get it!
He was a stand in wasn't he?As I am someone prone to criticise referees, I thought I had to say, the guy who refereed today was decent.
Think he was very lenient on the one from McNally, but other than that, he was decent.
Yeah completely agree. Surprised McNally didn’t get booked but I’d rather a ref be lenient than strict. Refreshing when a player falls over and the ref doesn’t buy it.As I am someone prone to criticise referees, I thought I had to say, the guy who refereed today was decent.

Yes, should have been Bobby Madeley refereeing us yesterday. Dodged a bullet there. He was a stand in wasn't he?
The positioning of the ball for corners is more trouble than it's worth. There must be a simple way to change it that stops all this palaver. It was funny when he moved the ball from their corner he knew once he got there he had to do something and moved it way to far.
That it has to be inside the area but maybe make it a little bigger, this shadow of the ball stuff is bollocksThe positioning of the ball for corners is more trouble than it's worth. There must be a simple way to change it that stops all this palaver.
Yeah but the part touching the ground is often put completely outside the marking, that's where the problems arise. That it has to be inside the area but maybe make it a little bigger, this shadow of the ball stuff is bollocks

I don't think anyone was claiming he didn't make mistakes, I certainly didn't, I just thought to comment as he didn't get any of the major decisions wrong, of which, in fairness, there were few.I must have watched a different game from most on here. The officials made mistakes like the non penalty, allowing the Bristol player to go many yards up the pitch from where the ball went out for throw ins a good 20 yards one time. The incident just before half time with putting the boot on and waiting for him making out he was going to add the time he didn't.When one of our players lost a boot quite prepared to let play go on and don't start me on offside decisions by the linesman in front of us.A big cheer went up when he got one right.
I noticed we are starting to practice some of the dark arts ourselves like pulling players out the way when their attacking and Dovin attending Wilson school of timewasting.
Ball doesn't have to be within the diamondWhen the corner is in singers corner - unless we are leading the call for him to move it within the diamond just wastes time for us - drives me potty as we never get it back - also free kicks - no one moves 10 yards away - never enforced by the ref
Yep just has to overhangBall doesn't have to be within the diamond
Yup got it but Singers call themWhat is a diamond? It’s a quadrant.
And just to explain it; if all of the ball isn’t over all of the line, then it is still in the quadrant, exactly the same as the throw-ins, penalty area and goal lines.
What they call the shadow , I didn't realise that tell Japan scored that goal against Spain where the ball appeared to be out before the Japanese player scored. The ball appeared out but the shadow of the ball was deemed to be on the byline. Hence the goal was given.Yep just has to overhang
A good ref. for me is one I haven't even noticed (when talking about the game don't mention him)and i certainly noticed him.The boot incident before half time nearer 3 minutes than 1. He jestered he was adding it on and no way did he.I thought his decision making in general fell short. One good point he left player who try to rule refs. by lying down claiming a foul sitting there.I don't think anyone was claiming he didn't make mistakes, I certainly didn't, I just thought to comment as he didn't get any of the major decisions wrong, of which, in fairness, there were few.
I agree with what you say, bar maybe the penalty, but I haven't seen it back, but I think every referee seems to get suckered into that shit. Overall, I think you're being harsh to say he was anything worse than "alright". Maybe the bar is set low, though.
Wasn’t interfering play on or at least have a plan for removing it ball boy or assistant was embarrassingIt took the ref about 4 minutes to notice an additional ball on the pitch.
I know the play was down the other end, but even when it went out of play and he looked down in the corner, he still completely missed it, so I assume he couldn't see it.
