What's new many a time I have watched us whilst in relegation play a team in the top 3 and we start as underdogs but what makes this unique I know nothing about this club or team.

A quick review of the internet and I now know
play in red and white
steve coppell - is director of football
players - recognise Claude Davies, Gary Alexander & billy clarke (scored against us for Ipswich)

Hard to work out how much they have spent on transfer fees but due to FFP probably have half our wage bill but double the points.

Trying not be down on the club but listening to local radio bigging up Crawley and being critical of Cov fans who still expect us to win and I still can't help thinking the same - we should beat them they are a small club. Problem is they are a small club that have been well managed buying the right type of player for this league where wee brought in Barton Kilbane Elliot Malaga Brown and still have Bell in our squad.

Barton, Elliott, Malaga, Brown are 4 players I suspect Crawley would have liked the opportunity of having!

It's not the players so much as the manager. We now have a capable manager and slowly but surely he will better most of his opponents in this league including Crawley. I would bet my bottom dollar we are well above them at season's end regardless of what happens tomorrow. It is a long, long season.

Look out for a young lad called Nicky Ajose, if he plays he will tear us apart. Ive watched him develope over the years from a young age, then when he was at Bury. Peter nllove springs to mind.Fast and eye for goal. This is the type of player we need. His late Dad Peter would be proud as punch if he was still alive.:pimp:

Actually, I'd put money on crawley not having such a different budget to ours. Been well backed with money for a few years now.

I got slaughtered on here by some pre-season when I said we would be underdogs going into some games.

I've got my ST and will be going but would never have associated Crawley with anything other than Gatwick airport a few years ago. Surely we can grind out a result against a team/club like this ????

yes I heard they were all queuing up to take him on loan...but because we didn't want our fellow league one teams gaining an advantage with his superior ability we sent him to Nuneaton...

You know what, I don't think AT would get half the flack he is getting if he hadn't have come out in pre-season and said .....

1. We're going to hit the ground running (unless he meant backwards)

2. Cody will be top goal scorer in this division.

3. That the 9 players he brought in were all very good quality.

If he hadn't have said all that and tempered his spiel a little bit I and sure he wouldn't be getting both barrels as he has been of late.

Their fans aren't an especially nice bunch and they haven't made many friends in Sussex during their bankrolled romp to League 1. Agree that it's a bit much of our fans to be getting high and mighty considering league positions, but their lot would be mouthing off regardless of who they were playing.

Lets not forget he's been ably abetted in that field of spiel by our ringmaster TF.

Crawley weren't necessarily 'well run' some rich person brought them! Well managed is Yeovil, f all money but still compete...

Side note: key to self efficiency is owning your ground (or at least a share!) and people criticise SISU for their mismanagement of CCFC and whilst they have, people conveniently have forgotten our biggest problem is not owning the ground and this wasn't SISU's fault (and yes 10m is a lot of money for a not-so big corporation trying to keep a failing club up!)

hitting the ground running didn't really happen. However I don't think a draw away to Yeovil in the first game of the season is as bad as some make out.

Was a draw at hone to Sheff utd bad?.

A draw at home to bury is poor.

Cody may have played under AT so who knows. At was trying to get DMC so he could have had a plan to have two up front.

The 9 signings are quality, this one is very debatable.

These players signed for AT and he would of told them how he intended to use them.

Who is to say that they would not be performing better for the manager who signed them and clearly had faith in them.

I agree though with some these it is highly unlikely. Brown got a lot of chances.

Edge seems ok.
Malaga seemed good to me but there is the language issue.
Barton looks a good player to me.
Fleck looks a good player to me.
Jennings looks a good player to me.
Ball is not my type of player but I am sure some rate him.
Brown can't concentrate for 90 mins.
Kilbane should be good and has underperformed.

I can't for the life of me think of the 9th signing. Which may not say a lot about that player!

If he told TF and wagg we would have a very strong start then he signed his own sacking.

I was expecting a steady start then get stronger and stronger.

Disagree. They have all pretty much underperformed apart from maybe Jennings and Edge.

Edge seems ok. - Agree

Malaga seemed good to me but there is the language issue. - Disagree. The fact he is now at Nuneaton surely tells you all we need to know.

Barton looks a good player to me. - Disagree and the bloke now half the time doesn't even find his way on to the bench. A flash, luxury player. Bags of skill, but not what is needed at this physical level of football. Massive disappointment so far.

Fleck looks a good player to me. - Done okay, but surely we were expecting so much more from him weren't we? It's all just fits and starts from the bloke, drifting in and out of matches.

Jennings looks a good player to me. - Done okay. Would like to see him impose himself a bit more though.

Ball is not my type of player but I am sure some rate him. - Looks distinctly average.

Brown can't concentrate for 90 mins. - Looked especially poor, with terrible marking, poor distribution and responsibility for a number of goals against.

Kilbane should be good and has underperformed. - Looks shot and past it. Slow and all but no influence on games.

Elliot - Disappeared. Runs around a lot and chases lost causes, but besides that one goal has done nothing.

Nearly all the players look very poor signings I'm afraid.

Edge - Good player, is new to English football so will only improve over time

Malaga - Very good in pre-season, looked assured on the ball and good in the air. However like the Edge is new to English football and has most likely been sent to Nuneaton to 'toughen up'. Tbh if he can't speak English there is no point playing him atm.

Barton - Clearly talented but there are questions to be asked, firstly is his heart in it and secondly is he fit as he looked very very unfit always knackered in the second half of games.

Fleck - Good player will only improve

Jennings - Need to see more bite from him, or he will end up like Deegan

Ball - Pre-Robins all I could see was a fat lad but has come on leaps and bounds since Robins has come in

Brown - Go back to United reserves

Kilbane - Retire now

Elliot - decent player to bring off the bench, but never a starter for me

Another comedy post. You only have one agenda - go on do the poll - bring back AT yes or no.

Interesting you mention McDonald by the way. A big let down. If we had signed a properly fit and decent forward instead of him we would have survived. He has to go along with Bell, Barton, McSheffrey, Kilbane, Malaga etc

You say three are 'okay' and one is 'average', then say they all look 'very poor'?!?
