Seeing the advert on the front page here for old games consoles, thought I would mention that I previously owned a couple of the types being offered. The first was Sega Master II. This was a very underrated console. All of the major games made for its upmarket 16-bit cousin the Megadrive eventually became available for the Master System. Because they were released later they were often better coded so despite being only 8-bit were just as good quality. Notable releases were Populous with over 5,000 levels, Mortal Kombat which included the so called "gore cheat" and Lemmings with its hilarious soundtrack. The Master System as sold in the UK had only one major drawback, its RF output. This permitted only composite video and monaural sound. If buying one now look for the French version which had RGB colour via a Scart socket The other console I had was a Sega Saturn (don't laugh) purchased second hand from that shop at the bottom of Hertford Street. I'm told mine was unusual in having RGB colour via the Scart socket and very good quality it was too. It was a pretty decent CD player too. I only ever played one game on it which was a slightly cut-down version of Theme Park. A couple of the fairground attractions were missing compared to the PC version. I haven't owned a console since as my main interest is in PC strategy games.
Golden eye was easily the best game on N64 if you own a Nintendo Wii you can download alot of the classic games if your connected to the internet such as Lylat Wars, Mario and many more what type of PC stratergy games you into Dutchman?
I had 1 brother with an original PlayStation (in one room) and 1 brother with a N64 in the other room. They were always arguing over which one was better, with the N64 is 64-bit and that's only 32-bit, ha.
I can remember playing games like Wipeout, Ade's Oddessy and Gran Turismo on the PS then going to playing Goldeneye and Super Mario 64 on the N64.
N.B. Goldeneye is one of the best games ever made. For the year it came out (98?) the depth was unreal!
Age of Kings: The Conquerors and Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds (Clone Campiagns) which is based on the same game engine.
So in effect have been playing the same game in one form or another for 12 years now. How sad is that?
I have tried the newer games from the same studio but couldn't get into them, they were too tedious and predictable.
