It always seemed to me like he's a good man who found himself out of his depth, he did very well in extremely trying circumstances as interim and on a personal level it must have been tough to go to a new organisation only to find the person who hired you out on their arse. Hopefully he lands on his feet.

King’s whole point was that he was worried that without an elite coach beside him, MR could get exposed. The subtext of what he said was that MR was ‘threatened’ by higher calibre options.
That’s taking his word at face value and perhaps there’s a bit of embellishment but the core of the message is plausible.

Don't get me wrong, he was a great coach, but there aren't many true elite coaches taking assistant jobs at near-bankrupt L2 teams.
In his defence he should never have been looking after the defence and whoever had that idea got it wrong, he will have had enough to do coaching all those keepers.Williams has been taken off the defensive coaching after the Pompey game

The scary thing is that neither Carr nor Austin thought Collins was the wrong choice enough to persuade Frank not to risk Collins and he had to find it out by losing matches.It took Lampard 3 or 4 weeks to see Collins wasnt up to it
