Thought I would post this before the Wimbledon match. Defeat I believe would put relegation almost certain that's if it isn't already. Russell Slade has made no difference since he joined not won a league match and produced some atrocious football, add to that his signings apart from Beavon none have proved better than what we had. As I see it there's little or no future here for Russell Slade. So where do we go ? Limp along until May or act now remove Slade and bring in another, that brings me to Sam Ricketts, yes I know all about he has no managerial experience but he is young, played at all levels of pro football and he's here now, knows the players most of whom will need replacing. Let's give him from now until May see what he can offer, has to be a better option than what we are getting currently incidently from a manager with so called management experience !

I know we see ourselves as a "big" club but we are what we are now, a soon to be FOURTH division outfit we fans must grasp that reality.

I have certainly never thought of us a "big" club in all my years supporting us, my feet are firmly on the ground regarding where you're at is where you belong.
I also think Slade will turn it around with players coming back for injury, suspensions etc.

perhaps it will be too late, but I think our form will pick up from now to the end of season.

Ricketts wasn't a leader as captain for us I certainly wouldn't see him as an inspiring manager. If slade does go we need an experienced manager for our league two promotion campaign

With managers it is not always about being leaders as players.

What about Terry Butcher? Gary McAllister, Bryan Robson, Bobby Moore, Bobby Charlton etc.

Means nowt in the grand scheme of things unfortunately.

What does this say about *our* club?

Why do we always, *always* fall into the trap of deciding changing the manager will solve everything? All that does is let off those who create the conditions for a manager to fail.

I didn't rate Ricketts as a player in his time here and theres nothing to suggest he could motivate this current playing squad.
If Sam Ricketts is already the man pencilled in as our manager already then I'm sure RS would walk away in a month or so if he got wind this was the case and all parties likely agree its best for the club. Ricketts gets games to slip up in and try and get momentum himself and RS does not quite get a first relegation tarnishing his cv.
I do however think that RS if given the summer to build a team with the amount of contract players we have he could assemble a team of players who would be competitive for the level of football we'd be at. A team far from what we have currently who's not fit for the league and has too many weak links in most areas and mental strength.
The brand of football ain't pretty but it will be be needed next season.
Ultimate question is could Ricketts stop the individual errors? The man made them weekly himself last season.

Really don't understand why Ricketts is suddenly the great hope of CCFC. He's done literally nothing as a manager.

In the current state your right, but I'm sure a few would be excepting of it if was winning games. (...I'm talking next season now )
It will be very tough to play proper neat tidy football on the deck come December January February next season at some grounds.

I personally think if we kept Andy Thorn we'd have gone downhill quicker then we have now. Adams and Boothroyd both had the "Captain Mainwarring (ha ha)" syndrome - little men who tried to impose their will and had to go, Dowie had won 2 in 16 - what do you do when you know from history once he fails he fails.

Managers when they hit a slump rarely turn things round or show signs they will. Most have no flexibility and are very stubborn in their outlook. Obviously I do not believe that you sack Slade after a few weeks - he is caught in the crossfire of discontent - but perhaps by the nature of the job football management is a short term job. People will always quote the exceptions - and its the same names - as they are exceptions. Or the club in question is happy with the status quo. Paul Tisdale has been in charge for over 500 games with a record thats hardly any different to most of the managers you have listed - and hasn't won anything for 7 years

So he's not a over paid ball boy that helps in the warm ups before games, surely he's not even on the payroll now.

Supporters expect success - if you own a business and the guy mainly in charge of revenue is failing and revenue is collapsing he goes.

Football is short term. Works the other way as well. If Mowbray was successful he'd have had an offer like robins and gone.

No structure will be the same unless you bring an apprentice in to replace the manager, we've tried that and it didn't work.

OK didn't realise that (generally don't get into the ground until 2.59 on a Sat!).

Sounds like he is eminently qualified to be manager!

Slade is only here til end of season, let him do his worst. Rickets would be a gamble next season in div2. Easy option for Sisu is get him signed up cheap and then bring in a decent manager when he eventually starts to fail. Sisu classic history. Yes this my first post and I'm very angry atm. So angry I'm refusing a Wembley trip whilst we are facing the drop. My choice.

John Eustace is a non starter for me along with Ricketts. Eustace has only been manager of Kidderminster barely a year.
Andy Morrell on the other has done a respectable job at Tamworth the last few years. It's a big step up tho currently from national league north.

Eustace wouldn't be the worst idea. 66% win record at Kidderminster and his contract is up at the end of the season.
