Says he's a great influence behind the scenes, so I hope if he does get a new contract, behind the scenes is exactly where he will stay.

Asked on the night how he felt, he joked: “It probably means I didn’t have a very good season on the pitch but I was very good at visiting schools.”

In fact Ricketts had an excellent campaign – proving his international class in the opening months when a settled defence helped the Sky Blues climb to the top of the table, and then demonstrating his versatility during the post-Christmas slump when he filled in all across the back four and even rolled back the years with a couple of matches as a wing-back with an impressive line in wrong-footing shimmies.
Starts of correct but had a excellent campaign? Had a good August, September and October but tailed off miserably after that.

Completely agree. He was excellent for the first 3 months and I had him pegged as a potential player of the season if he carried on like that, but after that brilliant start from him he became nothing short of a liability and he made so many mistakes and was responsible for giving away so many goals it was untrue.

He ended up to be a very, very poor player for us. I bet a pound to a penny that he was responsible for more goals than any other player in the team and possibly a number of them combined.

IMO worth signing as a squad player. Can play any where across back 4 and stayed fit all season. Yes he slumped but so did the whole squad

I wouldn't be happy if he is going to be regular starter and made captain mind you

Depends on wages - wouldn't be against it for the squad good versatility as can play anywhere across the back.

If he signs he will be a regular starter, Mowbray seems to like him. I'd echo that I thought he was one of our best players thr first 3 months of the season, but he has been poor ever since. If we do sign him, Mowbray shouldnt sign anyone else over the age of 30.

I wouldn't be entirely against him staying on, but would be very concerned about our ambitions if he got even close to the starting 11.

Need experienced players around the place but also ones that can offer us something on the pitch, which towards the end of the season he showed he couldn't.

And being captain at most of his clubs he must be a good influence to have around the place?

A player / coaching role could work for both player and club. He'd make a good squad player and he's keen to coach. Could be a win win.

I also thought he was decent at the start, he can play anywhere across the back 4 so would be a decent squad player.

It just depends if he would settle on just being a squad player or would want to be the same this season.

Hmmmm ... waste of wages for me, would he be ok as a back up player...no we have youngsters that can do that, use his wages to get someone more hungry and youthful and definitely more of an influence on the pitch...early season form =yes late season form = big no no

To be fair though, everyone was struggling in a team that were not playing well and had lost it's way, even our player of the year was far from consistent.
I do take your point about leadership on the pitch though.

he is getting on (in footballing terms). Was decent at the start of the season, and lets face it, hasn't he been the only defender on our books this season who hasn't been out for a period of time ?

Would'nt have started as many games as he has if we have a full compliment of defenders and he would have been rested. We didn't have that luxury this season. There cant be that many 34 year olds who have played as much has he has this season.

A decent squad player at this level, but he shouldn't be a shoe in for every game

If the defence is settled and stay's relatively injury free , and we can give him a
rest now and then,I think he could be a solid performer for us.

Not keen on him being part of any playing squad, his legs have gone and that is not coming back anytime soon. We need to move on and get younger, fitter and stronger defenders with desire to play at a higher level. And that is just not in Ricketts position that is all around the pitch.
