Funnily enough, I was thinking about what would happen to the team if they went down last night while I was chopping onions (lamb keema, if you're interested). We lose a centre back in Ostigaard, a left back in McCallum, and the new striker regardless. Probably lose Matty James, almost certainly lose Hamer, and Sheaf probably doesn't sign (on the assumption that the obligation to buy depends upon staying up). So our midfield will be decimated and two fifths of our back five will be gone. It means we'd need 4 or 5 new first XI players for a promotion push, in a lower division with less wonga for participating and possibly still behind closed doors. So my first thought was that going down this season would make it extremely difficult to come straight back up again. But, and it's a big but, the team that won promotion last year would still generally be here - the same keeper, the same back 3 of Rose, Hyam, McFadz. One of the same wingbacks. Kelly, O'Hare, Allen, Shipley in midfield. Godden up top, but this time with Walker as well. So if you could pick your best XI, there'd only be a Hamer shaped hole we'd have to fill.
So in conclusion, I have no idea what on earth my opinion is, or what I'm actually trying to say. Hope that helps.

Also didn’t league 1 teams get a grant, which championship teams only got a loan? That puts us behind.
League 1 has a salary cap as well.
No idea what this would mean for us...

From what I have read... Any player who is paid in excess of £3.5k pw will, for the purposes of the cap, will be classed at £3.5k pw. So even if all the big hitters leave, there will be no marquee L1 signings.

Allen can be a L1 Hamer IMO, and Bapaga will be another year older. Burroughs coming back from loan. Bring Mason back, Eccles and Drysdale get more time. Jobello, Hilßner, maybe even Kasta or Jones randomly back fit. I reckon we’d be OK losing Hamer and the loanees and signing no one.
