Wonder if anything will come of it?

He didn't actually call him that though did he?

@Carltonebanks tweeted rio: looks like Ashley cole's going to be their chic nice. Then agains he's always been a sellout. Shame on him

To which rio replied : I hear you fella! Choc ice is classic hahahahahahaha!

So technically he did not call him a chic ice

All these people need to grow up and grow some balls. Stop hiding behind libertarian inspired laws and stick up for yourself. There will always be racist no matter what your side is. It's a human trait that you can't ever and should never attempt to legislate over. What next? Laws to stop you swearing becuase it offends someone within earshot? yes it's not right when particularly vicious but it's just name calling and hardly 'abuse' is it? Where has all the common sense gone? There is certainly more hue and cry from minority groups than any majority groups. I don't care what colour or creed you are but if you smell, have bog breath, use foul language constantly, act like an asshole then I'm not gonna' like you regardless of race! As for twitter, it seems to have replaced the natter over the garden fence. You air it in public then be prepared for whatever answers come back your way. All social media is the same. Like a conversation in your local. Why authorative bodies need to pay any heed to it is beyond me. Free state...or police state?

We all know the answer to that.

What seems to be happening is a very modern day thing where people try to outdo each other to be the most offended (be the biggest victim). I couldn't careless what some random in the street says to me. While colour is still very much an issue for the media circus nothing will change in this country. It's about time people stopped being so offended over such minor things. This country is in a downward spiral and has been for years.

Ferdinand seemed to imply that Cole should have sided with Ferdinand because he's black, and the black guys should stand up against the White guy regardless.

Doesn't offend me personally, but I think it's a staggeringly stupid and ignorant belief to hold.

What I can never understand is why it is acceptable to call the ref a fat bastard etc, yet replace the word fat with black and you could end up in court.

Surely its the same thing in that you have taken a physical aspect of that person and turned it into an insult.

Does anyone really think that if these overpaid morons with underdeveloped brains had not been handed the breaks and become "professional" footballers, that the public would give a damn about their petty childish squabbling. The same sort of thing is happening here in Spain, the arrival last week of the demonstrating miners who had walked 400 km from the north in an effort to save their jobs and their futures, was not given live coverage on the television, but the arrival of the footballers with the European cup was impossible to avoid on almost every channel. I´m not knocking their acheivement but must admit that the 350,00 euro per player win bonus was a bit irksome given the current state of the country, especially when once upon a time it was simply a matter of pride for any international footballer to pull on the shirt. It´s a real shame that somewhere along the way we seem to have culturally lost our sense of priorities. Okay rant over.

Now Derbyshire police are investigating the 'choc-ice' incident on twitter. Are they joking? Police state here we come. Maybe they are trying to kill twitter? Either way if I was Ashley Cole I'd be on the phone to Derbyshire Police and If I was the twitter organisation I'd threaten the police will action also. Whoever made that decision to 'investigate' at the Derbyshire police wants hanging out to dry quite frankly.

Just seen the excellent Carlisle documentary in which John Barnes, Stan Collymore and others made eloquent claims of how we still have a long way to go.
Our society has improved since the 70's when racism was overt - today it is just passive.
Football is essentially white, hierarchical, homophobic and controlled by sexist tv moguls....:jerkit:

I did not think the same about that documentary at all. It was heavily sided in it's opinions. John Barnes comments I felt were bordering on racist towards others quite frankly. Why is there fewer 'black' managers in football? Well there is a majorty white population I seem to recall and those who have football careers and 'black' are even fewer. Just facts but why do some have to make it all about racism?I don't make my judgements in this country based on what happens in former Soviet countries either. There are some very good 'black' managers in this country and I have never seen them as being 'black' until these guys like John Barnes actually remind us they are?
