We can all be excused for being very frustrated in the manner of the defeat and general performance but last night wasn’t a one off this season and as I’ve said take a look at the side.

We’ve all highlighted varying issues and frailties with it, the issues with our midfield to the way we’re set up, the way we attack to being clinical in front of goal

We’re very one dimensional and easy to nullify at times.

10 day rest period could not of come at a better time where MR can take stock, hopefully make sone changes be that tactically or players and most importantly a plan for January

The response is knee jerk.
The way fans opinions go from yes we’re going up and the sky’s are blue we’ve strength and depth to the sides wank, recruitment is wrong is like a rock plummeting.

We’re the a few players away from being a serious candidate to go up. We will flirt with the play offs but doubtful we can sustain a real push.

Expectations were too high after October

Moving forward we’ve needed a proper Number 9 & if we’re talking about challenging for promotion Doyle needs to be replaced every week I watch faster stronger better midfielders than him Ogogo has been a let down I don’t think Kelly is the right man we need to sign a No.9 & central midfielder in Jan & BEG lampard to let us keep Thomas.Tactially he needs to be fed the ball over & over he causes teams no end of problems for some reason Robins didn’t tel them to feed Thomas last night in the second half & Robins needs to stop being so stubborn trying to nick games 1-0 & become tactially a lot better like we see week in week out.

1. There is no official confirmation of what was paid for Baka, £300k is probably well wide of the mark
2. Transfer fees are only a relatively small % of the acquisition cost of a player at this level, Madden's annual wage is probably another £150k a year + signing on fee. Evans just as much if not more.

I’m sorry but to say MR didn’t tell them to feed Thomas is way off. When the players cross the line it’s down to them to be most effective when with the ball. If we can see the ability and threat of Thomas I’m sure the 10 players playing alongside him can too.

It’s not playground football tho I’d did seem it, this is players not making the right decision not a manager not giving instructions.

Last night showed that we are what we have been throughout this entire season: a completely mid-table team that is just as likely to win 3 in a row as we are to lose 3 in a row. The only thing that changed from our winning run to last night were our shots going a few inches closer to the goalie's gloves than the inside of the post.

- Our tactics have remained the same throughout Robins entire time at CCFC. First half, MR starts out solid with 2 banks of 4 and just wants to make sure we don't lose the game in the first 45 mins. 2nd half, the wingers push up more and we try to attack with more urgency. That's it. That's all it ever has been under Robins.

- We play a counter-attack because we don't have the players who could ever control a midfield and dominate possession. We rely on blocking shots, Burge making saves and hoping one of our 6 shots a game can find the bottom corner. Robins would take a 1-0 over a 4-3 every day of the week. It's who he is - the safe option.

- WE'RE SO COUNTER-ATTACKING WE LET 24TH PLACE BRADFORD DOMINATE POSSESSION AGAINST US

- Conor Chaplin was signed as a pure goalscorer, fox in the box kind of player. We've stuck him at No.10 and asked him to become a playmaker. Another striker, Hiwula, is stuck on the left wing because two times a game he can run really fast with the ball at his feet.

- Plan B? It doesn't exist. Never has, never will. Hiwula goes off for another winger, a different CM comes on, JCH goes off for Baka. Oh, it didn't change anything? Ah well, I tried something says MR. Rinse. Repeat.

This season, we will finish somewhere in the 10-15 range. You're kidding yourself if you think this team, with these tactics, can do much better than that.

A pattern is certainly forming and MR has to take a element of responsibility as it’s his side, formation and tactics yet the players need to take some responsibility too in the way we restart games, decisions in games.

A few things are wrong for me from what I see and what I’d like to see if I was manager but it’s all opinion based.

A few square pegs in round holes with little available options is not helping, also a summer built around a different planned formation isn’t helping

Were talking about pro football here If Robins did tell them to keep feeding Thomas questions need to be asked why it never happened this is not the first time this exact same thing has happened either.

Thomas was fed plenty. He cut inside and made some nice lay offs in the second half too. In fact my only criticism of him would have been to take Husband on more as he seemed that he wanted to get sent off and the ref wouldn't oblige him.

That would of been like in the fabled 15/16 Mogga year, an opposition fan criticising their new 300k striker, saying well Coventry got Adam Armstrong for less.

Without Bayliss driving forward, the link between midfield and attack is nearly non-existent. Doyler is currently taking a lot of blame for it and I think he needs a bit of a rest but I think the biggest problem is coming from the wings.

The key role of the winger is linking up with the strikers and Hiwula and Thomas are not linking up, at all. Hiwula because he's a striker playing out of position and Thomas because he's a raw 19 year old, with frustrating end product, that just takes the shot on again and again and again - without scoring. If someone can find the stat of how many crosses or key passes have been delivered by Thomas or Hiwula this season, I would love to see it and I'm confident it will be very low.

I agree with the constructive criticism, that Chaplin shouldn't drop deeper to hunt for the ball. Firstly, because he's a poacher and we want him in the box and on the shoulder of the last defender, not stood on top of Bayliss. Secondly, because this is taking Chaplin further away from Clarke-Harris, which then makes JCH look ineffective when there's nobody to pick up his flick ons or hold up play.... but the main reason Chaplin is doing this is because of the midfield and our inability to link to attack and it's totally reliant upon Bayliss, who opposition teams are then singling out.

- McNulty (a class act) scored his 28 goals in League 2. Chaplin is playing a league above and has more goals than McNulty had this time last season.

- Chaplin's 21, McNulty is 26. McNulty has 5 years experience on the game over Chaplin. To expect Chaplin to come in and immediately take the reigns from McNulty is unfair, particularly when McNulty was on fire for the second half of the season. I was just as excited as everyone else when we signed Chaplin but we've got to give him a chance to adapt to the team and vice versa. Chaplin's 3 months into a 4 year deal and has gone from being a squad player to our central striker. I'm convinced Chaplin will come good.

I think in general we recruited well over the summer until the panic set in after McNulty was bid for out of the blue. We have spent quite a lot for our level on 3 young prospects and the team overall is heavy on youth which MR has said is part of the transfer policy. I get that the reality of our financial situation is such that profiting from the development of these players is how the club needs to make ends meet. But the fact remains, we are light on seasoned professionals and we had the resources to get such players in over the summer. It also remains that we are persisting with a distinctly unambitious way of playing which relies on these young players to dig deep and hit on the counter.

The whole thing seems incoherent is all. Do I expect miracles no, but some of what we're doing doesn't make sense-then again when did our club last do anything else...

It’s not working with him and JCH. When we go long they are always too far apart. When try to play through the middle they are trying to thread impossible balls through the defence. No one seems to want to take responsibility for taking a shot, except for Thomas who lacks composure. That said, if Thomas goes back in January we will have zero threat going forward.
