Well let's look at some of what we've spentSo you're saying that the problem is recruitment ( I do agree with this tbh) but there are many other issues too with team tactics and in game set up.
Context required. Majority of those in the PL where money spent on ground improvements seriously hampered any transfer activity. I would be looking seriously to appoint him if Robins left
I assumed that based on what we did on limited funds we would be even more successful with more to spend. Turns out we just did what Stoke and longer ago Bristol City did.Well let's look at some of what we've spent
12.5 million roughly on EMC , Thomas, kitching and binks
3 were playing league 1 football , the cheapest we signed from Serie A , we can't defend
Collins and Dovin roughly 2 million - Ben Wilson is in goal
Ellis simms initial about 3.5 and can't trap a ball
Torp for roughly 2 million about as tough as my youngest daughter
That's 20 million pound roughly give or take
Are we saying that we couldn't have done more with the money , I.E smaller fees larger wages ?
It’s routine for the surgeon, but not for you,It's regarded as routine nowadays! Same with you , all the very best . Hopefully we could meet up at a game in future and compare surgery scars !
We seemed to recruit better when shopping on a shoestring and bringing in loans really. We spent 2 million on Hamer and GyokeresWell let's look at some of what we've spent

But who is buying the players ? The manager says yes or no but that's nonsense he is being told that these players are good and what we've been scoutingI assumed that based on what we did on limited funds we would be even more successful with more to spend. There was certainly more passing out from the back, why did he leave an injured GK on the pitch anyway?Problem is he’s been sucked into the same possession based shite that doesn’t suit the players he’s got.
What is wrong is our defence. Cheap goal after cheap goal. We concede far too easily while the debate on Simms v Bassette rages we let in very poor goal after goal. Also our bad form goes back to last season. Our form has been relegation form. Something is clearly rotten
I’m more worried about whoever is doing the negotiations. But who is buying the players ? The manager says yes or no but that's nonsense he is being told that these players are good and what we've been scouting
We've seen it in some matches .The players do have what it takes. We’ve seen it.
The defence has not been improved when we knew that was an area of weakness last season tooWhat is wrong is our defence. Cheap goal after cheap goal. We concede far too easily while the debate on Simms v Bassette rages we let in very poor goal after goal.
Well by the sound of darragh mac at posh , it's kingI’m more worried about whoever is doing the negotiations.
His job never has been to scout players? But we do know he was very insistent on Kitching and now doesn’t particularly rate him. He saw a full season of Binks before oking the signing. But who is buying the players ? Yeah I ain’t reading all thatWeeks ago when I voiced my concerns in noticing some alarming signs, I was booed and heckled with profanities by some of you (such as procdoc). However, I didn't reply in kind and chose the high road instead. Yet, it is interesting to note that some of these same people seem to be starting to sing a different tune.
As I said weeks ago, a pattern has been emerging as to how the poor form towards the end of last season has been carried forward into this season. The team has remained largely the same. So naturally you would expect to see improvement from thar and to build from how we tailed off dramatically last season. However, that has not happened. To me it seems like some players (e.g. Simms) have regressed tremendously, while I have doubts whether new signings like EMC are up to the required standard. Yet other like Rapha have still not showed up to the party. Though Sheaf is important, we cannot pin our poor form solely to his injury. The performances have largely been abysmal and disjointed (in MR's words) this season. The clean sheet and win vs Blackburn this week was an exception and not the norm and the team again failed miserably in trying to beat a Sheff Wed side that played a day later in midweek and has not won away this season until today.
Look Robins has been great for the last 7 years (don't get me wrong), but he's running out of excuses as to why we are losing games/points week in week out and are so easy to score against. I am not openly advocating for his dismissal, but things have to be looked at objectively in terms of the good of the club and how to take it forward. The issue I have with MR is that sometimes he's too nice and will not/cannot beat the shit out of his players to some results on the pitch. He seldom makes effectual changes during a match that impact the outcome and this season he's been outthought quite easily by opposing managers. In his defence though his limitations as a coach have been hampered by the recruitment policies of no loans, no purchases/loans of players in their late twenties/thirties, no midfield/defensive reinforcements but a plethora of attacking ones. To add to this perfect storm that is fast derailing this campaign are the hiring of the new Performance Director, her appointments of Boateng/Carr and the dismissal of Viveash. I honestly haven't seen anything of value contributed by this backroom staff that was going so well under the Adi/MR tandem.
We face Preston next who we never get a result against and they have shown great improvement of late winning 3-0 vs Watford and drawing 0-0 away to Burnley. So things don't look promising for the team or MR.
Even Derby’s record breaking PL team managed a winWe've seen it in some matches .
Even the worst teams win matches sometimes
You’ve just said it, the variables have changed so you need to wait to see what that impact is. End of last season was completely different too, we’d ran out of steam after a tough FA Cup run (small squad) and on top of that, mostly top 7-8 teams. There is a problem though- it's not the last 9 games it's the last 20 . What's a good measure of time 20 , 30 , 40 games ?
Admittedly the variables have altered ( ie coaching etaff ) but this decline has been far longer than you are indicating
I agree. Which tells me it’s not just the players.
It also tells me that King has to own what’s gone on.
It’s been a weakness for all of last season and all of this. It’s not so much about the defence, it’s how the layer in front is set up.The defence has not been improved when we knew that was an area of weakness last season too
The league form had stuttered a bit before then. Remember the 3-0 home defeat to Preston? Or the poor performance in the big game at West Brom.I mean the context for our end of season form last season is that the squad was tiny and we had a big cup run ? But fans keep adding it to our recent form
Everybody at the club has made mistakes to lead to this situation. King sure has, but today was the first time I’ve come away thinking that Robins doesn’t know what he’s doing. He wont though he's a prick
So, who you going to replace him with? With a heavy heart but I’m sorry but that’s enough.
Robins been brilliant for our rise through the lower leagues but this is a step too far from him now. It’s sad to seem him struggle like this with the so called most expensive squad ever.
He clearly can’t get this squad to get results. Tactically he’s all over the place and yes some players need to step up, but it’s up to the manager to motivate them. They’re not listening to him and that is a huge warning.
People don’t want to include last season but the reality is apart from that FA cup run the 2nd half of last season was average. Our play off season was built on 2 superstar players in Vik and Gus with the crux of an old school type of squad.
Our home form and CBS was meant to be our fortress. Now teams can come here for an easy 3 points.
Mark’s interview just now is repetition of other poor performances. He can’t say we’re a good team if we keep losing like this. He’s making bizarre team selections especially at the back. Kitching and Wilson for example shouldn’t be anywhere near the team. In the end he threw them all under the bus anyway.
Maybe these players aren’t as good as we thought they would be but they should be collectively doing better.
Buck stops with him, he’s too stubborn to change things with formation or go change it up positively. We are so predictable opposition mangers must be laughing. There’s a danger this turns into a horrendous season. We should be improving game on game, not getting worse.
Time for a change in my opinion and this isn’t for people to have a go at each other, but we won’t see the next step change on the pitch without a fresher, more tactically astute manager.

That stupid dickhead King and his aversion to loans also misses that they've been hugely successful trials for subsequent signingsWe seemed to recruit better when shopping on a shoestring and bringing in loans really. We spent 2 million on Hamer and Gyokeres

Individually good but lacking certain traits in particular areas of the pitch to succeedPlayers aren't the problem IMO. I think on talent alone this squad is easily somewhere between 4-8th in the league.
Most of those games were in the premier League with a squad that probably cost less than ours to be fair. He did brilliantly to get them there.Sure , but he's lost 17 of Luton last 24 games in the league
He probably woke up this morning and felt it.I’m not saying we won’t be, but how do you know we’re going to be fine?
