Exactly what I was saying. I can't believe Robins is suddenly a bad manager.Clearly our results have been poor but MR has consistently been a great manager over the years that he has been with us. I refuse to believe that he has suddenly become a bad manager overnight.
If we release him the chances are that his replacement will either be a rookie, which could work but is a gamble, or someone who has been sacked by another club following a series of poor results.
See what I mean!
I’m not saying that MR should have a job for life but I do think that he should be given more time to turn things around.
I stand corrected I thought he had a couple by that point. Was thinking I think about his 20/21 goals. When you say started to score you mean one goal. Subsequent events would suggest Robins was bang on with his assessment of him.
Exactly what I was saying. I can't believe Robins is suddenly a bad manager.
Words like clueless and tactically inept have been mentioned.
Not so sure you can go from being a very good manager with a great record, to then becoming inept and clueless.
There is clearly something not right at the club.
Players are showing no consistency and you have to wonder what the coaches are doing on the training ground.
We went from brilliant against Spurs, to totally inept against Swansea, followed by really good against Blackburn and rubbish again today against Sheff Weds.
It just doesn't add up and it appears, for whatever reason, certain players cannot put two good performances in, in a row.
Baffling.
Just put of interest how do you know all this stuff ?Robins has usually had a number two to rely on and who he has picked himself - now he hasn’t and the team surrounding him have been picked for him….
and it’s not hard to understand the Spurs performance, you wouldn’t have to do too much to motivate whoever plays in that game really - other than that I would say there’s been one half decent performance against Oxford, although very lucky to come away with the W, and in parts against Blackburn although they weren’t very good at all
and the problems run deeper in the squad, for instance Kitching seems to be a problem on and off the field, Collins also dropped for similar reasons, Wright is disinvested, Simms similar, and the new lads are wondering what the fuck they’ve walked in to…players in cliques even worse this season and some believing they are better than the rest or they should be starting week in week out regardless, and no strong experienced characters to bring them together / knock them down a peg or two
Not a Robins signing but you'd argue that McGoldrick's career turned round with his loan spell mostly under RobinsYeah, McNulty, Chaplin, Godden and Gyokeres had their careers destroyed!
So does that mean for fans to stop posting about last season we need to win 8 games without losing because it's a tad fucking boring
Just put of interest how do you know all this stuff ?
Mate the team are awful, if you asked everyone who they’d return to get their money back they’d probably say them all bar 1 of 2.Players aren't the problem IMO. I think on talent alone this squad is easily somewhere between 4-8th in the league.
I think people are fed up with the excuses now, there were always reasons why we might underachieve, pitch, squad depth tiredness etc etcSeems a lot of people have written Robins off already... prematurely in my view... key issue at the moment is conceding goals through lack of concentration / willingness to track runners.
A bit shocked at how eager some of our fans are to throw Robins under the bus... Currently, I would have faith in him to turn things around rather than any of the (realistic) alternatives mentioned on here.
However, one big concern is signs that some players don't appear to give much of a fuck ATM. That is a big worry for any manager, no matter how good their track record...
to be fair though you can’t have it both ways - ‘look what Robins has done over the last so many years’ but then also ‘ignore the end of last season’ ……
so in other words only look at the good and not the bad?
if you get bored hearing about the run of bad form last season you have to also forget the previous good results and concentrate on the here and now, and any which way you frame it this season has been pretty shite so far, 2 wins and 8 points from 9 games, across the season = 10 wins and 40 points if we carry on this way, and see my previous post - Blues and Huddersfield went down last season with more
We’ve spent all this money, but haven’t actually addressed the essential ‘needs’ for this squad.I think people are fed up with the excuses now, there were always reasons why we might underachieve, pitch, squad depth tiredness etc etc
There are no excuses now, the slow starts are unacceptable with the money we’ve spent. The pitch is great, we’ve built a squad and got the depth he was asking for. I think most people who know abit about the game know that we’ve regressed, despite spending what we have.
This isn’t true though is it. “Look at what Robins has done” means look at achievements and final league tables, not cherry pick dates to suit an agenda.
No issue that this season is shite so far, but last season’s run is of no relevance- take the whole season or none of it.
45 million spent, end of the day it comes down to this
All those points you’ve stated is exactly why whoever was dealing with the recruitment should be out. We’ve spent all this money, but haven’t actually addressed the essential ‘needs’ for this squad.
Signing Bassette for 2.5m was great. But was signing a striker to be 4th choice a good idea when we missed out on our top 2 CM and CB targets?
The midfield has actually had little investment in it. We’ve lost Palmer, COH, Hamer, Kelly and replaced them with Rudoni and Torp. Hamer had close to 20 goal contributions in 22/23 and that hasn’t been replaced. Defence, there has been investment but all the players are young and you can see just how naive they are at times - experience is needed here urgently.
It's a tough one.All those points you’ve stated is exactly why whoever was dealing with the recruitment should be out.
I don’t rate any of the signings bar 2 or 3
It was imperative the money was spent wisely, sadly it’s gone up the wall
Fresh start needed.
It’s tiresome our signings taking a season to get up to speeds. I mean, for what we’ve spent we should be getting some players that slot in and start putting in some performances from the off. It's a tough one.
I feel most of our signings have been 'potential' signings or 'work in progress'.
I see the potential in Thomas, Binks, Simms, Torp, Basette and the likes, but the problem is until they fulfil their potential, they're what we have now. Shit hot or shit.
We needed experienced players in with them to play alongside, organise and help them in training. Raw potential can only go so far.
I know Fadz probably wanted to play but if he was happy with it, I really think we should've given him a role as a player/coach who'd obviously be fairly low down the pecking order in terms of team selection but would be very involved in the training. His experience would've been invaluable to Kitching, Binks and Thomas.
so fear us in a bloody relegation battle yet again.
He probably has one more game.Anyone who thinks Robins could be on the way out anytime soon is completely deluded. May as well rip up your season tickets now, because your in for severe disappointment if you want him gone.
He probably has one more game.
It’s not the most far-fetched thing to suggest is it, odd.Delusional.
it entirely is and you’re wrong - the point is that it is where the poor form started, it’s not cherrypicking to suit any agenda, we have had a poor run starting from actually technically the Cardiff game, and it’s continued until, and including today…if anything that’s actually worse as it meant we haven’t fixed issues from last season, and have actually carried on relegation form
if you believe last season is irrelevant, then so is the season before, and the season before that - and let’s look at just this season then which, as you say, is unquestionably poor - so when people question Robins it appears justified doesn’t it?
Nonsense. You hate Wilson and it clouds your judgement. It's really bizarre. Wilson's done more to deserve to be dropped than him.
He’s not got one more game, but you look at the games we have coming up and they’re basically either teams you’d expect to be in the top 6 or bottom 6. If we don’t get results against the likes of Preston, QPR, Derby then I think he might be gone.Delusional.
You're gonna tell the scouts to look for "oomph"?
Don't think we lack experience tbh - Wilson, Bidwell, Sheaf, Wright, BTA all experienced players starting today.
Leadership, maybe, but again I would expect some of those listed to be providing it.
I could understand those concerns if we were playing well, just making errors at critical times - but we're not even playing well in the first place.

Wilson is crap. Should’ve done better for the first today. Was statistically one of the worst keepers in the league last season.Nonsense. You hate Wilson and it clouds your judgement.
Probably not because our coaching and management seems to be very poor.Do you still think the players are giving 100%?

Believe I said I didn’t think the players were deliberately downing tools. I don’t think they are. I think they’re lacking belief in their management. But you said previously anyone questioning the work rate was an idiot.
So you accept you got it wrong?
