There is clearly something not right at the club.

Players are showing no consistency and you have to wonder what the coaches are doing on the training ground.

We went from brilliant against Spurs, to totally inept against Swansea, followed by really good against Blackburn and rubbish again today against Sheff Weds.

It just doesn't add up and it appears, for whatever reason, certain players cannot put two good performances in, in a row.

Baffling.

I really like Robins, but his team selections and formations have been worrying to say the least. I thought we had the game won today, but then after the equaliser, just prayed for at least a draw. Alas, it wasn't to be. We lost a game that was there for the taking. I can't see a decent result against Preston, so fear us in a bloody relegation battle yet again. So, Mark has to be held responsible and maybe new management brought in.

Robins has usually had a number two to rely on and who he has picked himself - now he hasn’t and the team surrounding him have been picked for him….

and it’s not hard to understand the Spurs performance, you wouldn’t have to do too much to motivate whoever plays in that game really - other than that I would say there’s been one half decent performance against Oxford, although very lucky to come away with the W, and in parts against Blackburn although they weren’t very good at all

and the problems run deeper in the squad, for instance Kitching seems to be a problem on and off the field, Collins also dropped for similar reasons, Wright is disinvested, Simms similar, and the new lads are wondering what the fuck they’ve walked in to…players in cliques even worse this season and some believing they are better than the rest or they should be starting week in week out regardless, and no strong experienced characters to bring them together / knock them down a peg or two

I haven't read most of the thread, but my opinion is Robins has earned the right to go out on his own terms.
We see out the season, but I feel it's time to move on. Robins leaves as a legend.

There are no excuses now, the slow starts are unacceptable with the money we’ve spent. The pitch is great, we’ve built a squad and got the depth he was asking for. I think most people who know abit about the game know that we’ve regressed, despite spending what we have.

We’ve spent all this money, but haven’t actually addressed the essential ‘needs’ for this squad.

Signing Bassette for 2.5m was great. But was signing a striker to be 4th choice a good idea when we missed out on our top 2 CM and CB targets?

The midfield has actually had little investment in it. We’ve lost Palmer, COH, Hamer, Kelly and replaced them with Rudoni and Torp. Hamer had close to 20 goal contributions in 22/23 and that hasn’t been replaced. Defence, there has been investment but all the players are young and you can see just how naive they are at times - experience is needed here urgently.

it entirely is and you’re wrong - the point is that it is where the poor form started, it’s not cherrypicking to suit any agenda, we have had a poor run starting from actually technically the Cardiff game, and it’s continued until, and including today…if anything that’s actually worse as it meant we haven’t fixed issues from last season, and have actually carried on relegation form

if you believe last season is irrelevant, then so is the season before, and the season before that - and let’s look at just this season then which, as you say, is unquestionably poor - so when people question Robins it appears justified doesn’t it?

It's a tough one.

I feel most of our signings have been 'potential' signings or 'work in progress'.
I see the potential in Thomas, Binks, Simms, Torp, Basette and the likes, but the problem is until they fulfil their potential, they're what we have now. Shit hot or shit.

We needed experienced players in with them to play alongside, organise and help them in training. Raw potential can only go so far.

I know Fadz probably wanted to play but if he was happy with it, I really think we should've given him a role as a player/coach who'd obviously be fairly low down the pecking order in terms of team selection but would be very involved in the training. His experience would've been invaluable to Kitching, Binks and Thomas.

It’s tiresome our signings taking a season to get up to speeds. I mean, for what we’ve spent we should be getting some players that slot in and start putting in some performances from the off.

We needed experience you’re absolutely right, we failed to get that in, that’s on the recruitment team and robins. The manager would have fed to the recruitment team what we needed.

We need some fresh eyes at the club, things are stale. Some big calls need to be made immanently.

Leadership, maybe, but again I would expect some of those listed to be providing it.

I could understand those concerns if we were playing well, just making errors at critical times - but we're not even playing well in the first place.

Sheaf is an extremely poor captain. When you have a player like him being club captain it isn't a surprise that we stand weak in the grand scheme of things.

It's fucking laughable that some of the cucks on here were quoting him as worth 25 million and Premier League bound. The most overrated player I've seen at the club for a long time. Today a shining example. Pathetic really.

Very much still in the 'give it more time' group.
Think EMC has been written off prematurely - given more time on the left side of attack I think he will show more quality.
Kitching needs to concentrate better - it is far too easy for strikers to play off the shoulder against him currently.

Said to my dad this Summer that Nigel Clough is a decent manager - if things go badly pear-shaped this season, he is the man I think we should consider trying to bring in at the end of it. Knows L2 / L1 and knows how to build a team without needing a large budget.
