Its not so much the quality (or lack of) of the people leaving. It's the fact that beacuse of our embargo we can not replace these squad members. We see nothing but exits from the club!! ROD, can honestly say not bothered, if he goes there and scores a few good luck to him. He wasn't doing it for us. Just a bit miffed that Aidy thinks it's okay to pick off our bones like some kind of vulture. As soon as we get buying it will look a damm site better at the minute though, looks ridiculous!!!

I think ROD might be OK in League 1 for us - he can play on the wing, up front, or at the point of the diamond, and we will need that kind of versatility with such a small squad next year!

I think I've told this anecdote here before, but what the hell. One match day last season, my elderly ST buddy was really depressed as an old friend of his had died that week. "Were you close?" I asked. "Well, it's not so much that, although we were" he said, "Rather that it was his life's ambition to dance on Maggie Thatcher's grave, and now the bitch had outlasted him, he won't ever get to do that." I managed to raise a grin by telling him, "Ah well, never mind, the queue for the grave would have been so bloody long, he'd have caught his death of cold long before he reached the front!"

The best PM we ever had in my opinion (although Blair was also good). I had the pleasure of meeting her in person about five years ago. I appreciate others may feel differently but let's not glory in the death of a very frail elderly woman in the advanced stages of Alzheimers.

I stop short of revelling in anyone's death-but she ruined so many lives, caused so much hardship, and has created the selfish, 'Look out for Number 1' mentality that runs throughout the country now. Unforgiveable, and though I won't take pleasure in her passing, I won't shed a tear either.

That's fair enough. I accept she is a high polarising figure and people have the right to despise her. However where I stop short is this idea that her death should be celebrated in a manner of a dictator like Hitler or a terrorist like Bin Laden. Like her or loathe her, she was democratically elected by the British people on three separate occasions and that included plenty of people in Coventry and Warwickshire voting for her.

Thatcher's legacy still causes the Tories problems in winning votes in these areas and when they took power a few years ago they had a big chance to show they'd moved on and had changed. Anyway-this is not the place for a political debate and the issue's probably best dropped early

My last word on this is that through Thatcher's time in office, Coventry South West, Nuneaton, North Warwickshire (including Bedworth & Atherstone), Leamington, Rugby, Kenilworth and Stratford all returned Conservative MPs. As did much of Birmingham. Granted things have changed slightly since then. Agreed, let's now leave the Thatcher analysis to one side.

My last word on Thatcher is that I don't make allowances to her present condition when judging the person she was or the evil she did. I don't take back what I said before, and that was a very restrained version. But I agree, lets leave politics at that, it's not the place. We have so much else to disagree on!

They might have been handy for us in the last 4 weeks of the season, but we "strengthened" in January by not actually increasing the squad size, when that was one of the biggest problems! Even ROD would have been useful when we had 2 games in 3 days and Jeffers as the option :facepalm:
