But by the same token, by playing lots of matches in very quick succession creates a much bigger load on the body and risk of injury.
E.g. the best way to get match fit is to do what Robins is doing, if that's even his plan. He might not even come on now though
He played an hour
Yeah he did. Probably covered a lot of ground in that hour. 45 minutes tonight (or 30 minutes as is more likely) would be a good way to incrementally increase his playing time and minimise chance of injury.

So it just applies to him?
And then if first teamers got injured in the reserves people would complain. He could be putting the players who aren't getting many minutes in the reserves to get some minutes, he doesn't.
Yet he players Godden for 90 minutes every week regardless of his performance?
Think people are thinking way too deep to try and justify it.
No it applies to other professional footballers as well.
But also, everyone is different. Not everyone is Jamie Allen for example.
And then if first teamers got injured in the reserves people would complain.
He only played an hour on Saturday why does he need a rest?
Hopeful of a win tonight . Squad is getting stronger as players return from injury , opposite of Rotherhams current situation@Martin180 what you reckon tonight
It’s nonsense - he played the second half against Cardiff and virtually the whole game the following Wednesday against Huddersfield
The reserves? You’re showing your age NickHe could be putting the players who aren't getting many minutes in the reserves to get some minutes, he doesn't.

Hardly scoring any goals? Our strikers have 9 in 12. They’re scoring at a higher rate than all of our strikers last season.I'm sorry but that's ridiculous. Clearly our strikers hardly scoring any goals and being unable to hold onto the ball has been the biggest problem. Also having no consistent number 10 is a problem. Eccles has been playing well. Central midfield is not and has not been the problem this season.
He's only played 1 game since the international break!Robins said the other night he wanted to rest him but couldn’t - I assume he’ll be benched once two of Sheaf, Allen and Kelly are fully fit.
Every club has injuries, it’s not exclusive just to us. Still annoying thoughMight need to look into our medical team then as many players drop like flies in training. Pointless if we are too scared to give them minutes.

Agree. I don't think he looked particularly tired in the second half on Saturday. Just less effective, like the rest of the team. It was a poor half.
I don't think this decision tonight is based on his last performances. Its more likely based on the players data results that the stats guy watches everyday and reports to Robins.
The game has moved on, shame you haven't!!!!
Because they changed from the formation that was allowing space for him to be effectiveAgree. I don't think he looked particularly tired in the second half on Saturday. Just less effective, like the rest of the team. It was a poor half.
So did I. I just didn’t want to be the first to admit it.I knew what the old geezer meant
You dont get match fit without playing matches
He was knackered after an hour and was struggling to show for a pass, it's not necessarily a case of him being droppedSurprised Sakamoto dropped but he did look very tired by the end.
You can get 9/2 on them now Greggsy, hope you’ve topped upRotherham 3/1
Lot of sports scientists in this thread all of a sudden
