Rumour - Johnson to sign today (3 Viewers)

Reda has signed :)

I've had a pretty 50/50 week this week. First I heard the Rumour that Ricketts was signing the following day (which he did) then followed it up by tarnishing my reputation by calling out a poster I thought was posting under an alias, which he wasn't.

So I've through the grapevine Reda is due to sign today. This is by no means set in stone, but I would say I'm quietly confident of this happening

Let's hope so, we're starting to build a pretty decent side and Reda will be an important part of that

Lets hope - Mowbray needs to tell him to sign by Sunday or look elsewhere

I would be pleased if he signed but there are just as good defenders out there that would play more of the season

Fingers crossed. Ricketts and Reda have the potential to be an immense partnership in this league.

Agree that we should look elsewhere if he continues to drag his feet over negotiations past this weekend.

Probably take all day over it so he can miss training again or forget his boots.

Rickets and Reda should be awesome at this level. Let's hope he signs, stays fit and gel's with rickets.

Just can't see us conceding half the goals (slight exaggeration maybe) that we did last season.

I think TM will get a lot out of Ricketts Johnson Willis and Martin as CBs. That gives us good options and cover in those positions.

Reda can also play LB (his better position I think) which gives us another option.

I still have concerns about his attitude and influence, which I think are potentially disruptive. I would hope TM is strong enough to manage that as well as his delicate constitution.

So if he signs, Reda and Ricketts is the best partnership, both experienced, strong in the tackle and good in the air. Can't see them conceding too many. I'd then have Willis as first choice backup and Harries as second choice as they offer something a bit different, mainly they are better at passing than Reda (I can't speak for Ricketts' passing ability). Martin is woeful in my opinion but will be needed in case of injuries.

While I'm at it, if we don't get any wingers in, I reckon it could be worth trying Haynes at left midfield. I say this because he has pace and can cross a good ball

Personally, I think Johnson and Ricketts together will be very prone to concede goals against teams with pace. Bit worried about that.

Yep. Johnsons positional sense at CB in a 442 is pretty shocking.

Do you want reda to sign stupot07?

Yes, as long as he can stay fit enough to play 35+ league games. The stats don't lie, we he's fit and plays we do well, but he's not infallible. His early form for us, was in 352 where there was always cover for him, he also impressed me at left back, but like I said scares me in a 2 at CB. He likes to get too tight and often likes to get involved in a battle which is why he wonders off out of position. He reminds me of mcpake in that respect.

I think Reda Johnson committing himself to us officially could prove to be a significant signing. Johnson will be well regarded by other players and i think there are a number of decent target players waiting to see what develops here before coming to a decision, Mowbray will have spoken to a number and told what his ambitions are with calibre players Ricketts and Vincelot joining and with Mowbray's and don't forget Mark Venus influence and reputation we could become an attractive proposiion

@AndyTurnerccfc: Down at Ryton, guess who is trying on training kit? Clue, he's a big French defender who played for #skyblues last yr #pusb

Could be a worry if Reda has to have a fitness test? lol

Johnson To Sign

Coventry City are expected to unveil Reda Johnson as their latest signing today.

Johnson had an injury interupted season for the Sky Blues but was mainly effective when he did play including a brace against Bradford City on the opening day of last season.

The Marseille born defender was out of contract with City after his one year deal expired but he has agreed a new contract and is expected to be unveiled today.

Mowbray: "I just passed Reda on the stairs, and hopefully he will be putting pen to paper in the office next door. Everything seems OK, and I may be tempting fate before the ink is dry, but it looks likely.

"I'm yet to decide on my captain for the coming season. Captaincy is about how you live your life, and how you set the standards for your teammates.

"Hopefully we have more than one guy showing those qualities. You need more than one captain helping the team."

"I think Reda is agreeing a one-year deal. In my opinion, talent-wise, he's better than this league but his failings are probably his lack of games and his test now is to play consistently and get to 35 or 40 games a season.

"Our stats with him are superb. Why? Because he's decent in both boxes, and great at what he does."
