Linked with him from Sheffield United according to the telegraph.

Not 100% sure what it's based on, he has a clause so Sheff united can keep him if they want and he has said he wants to stay.

He came off injured against us last week (Number 7)

Thought he was their best player on Saturday.

Didn't he play right back for a while this season while Brayford was injured? Think I remember Sheffield fans saying they preferred him there

I think the key part of the article is that they looked at him before and couldn't afford the wages. Of course if he is released then that may change but if he is that good others will probably out bid us

Par for the course though isn't it over the summer months lots of reports of players we are interested in and few ever materialise .... I suppose it helps generate newspaper sales, even season ticket sales though :thinking about:

Depends who is in for him really, its no secret that Sheffield Utd can pay higher wages than us.

Realistically would've been a squad player for us. He'll get game time at a club like Oldham. If we want promotion theres little point in signing players League One clubs don't want

not even nearly true.

Which part
1) We have signed Sordell ?
2) he played for relegated league one club
3) they didn't want him ?

their forums are saying they didn't even offer him a new contract. Why would they do that if they wanted him. Take Fleck, we offered him a contract as we wanted him to stay, but he went elsewhere for more cash.

number 3 clearly.

Theres no point offering someone a contract if you a) can't afford him or b) the player/agent wont even bother having discussions as they're not interested in the slightest.

Still, dont let pragmatism get in the way of a good miserable moan

who's moaning ? For what its worth, I think he will prove a good signing....

I was commenting on "If we want promotion theres little point in signing players League One clubs don't want"

Sordell has been out pretty much since xmas, I would suggest if Colchester wanted to keep him, they would have offered him a deal

Why did we offer Fleck a contract then ?

Always makes me smile quizzically when players our fans start hoping will stay like JOB and sign (many in this bracket) sign for someone sh!t and often in the league below.
