Ryton training ground upgrades (1 Viewer)

There has been pictures hasn't there? None of the 'before' shots but sure there's already been some shown.

Don't think you've got much chance of the club showing before pictures, wouldn't want to embarrass themselves!

That graffiti club crest you can see in the background would make a good t-shirt for the young-uns.

It's still beyond me that TM had to take £50k from the players budget to get Ryton fixed!

Yes for the young ones. Mind you if they sold them how many fat fifty + fans would think they would fit a treat? Me for one... probably

Why not? It really demonstrates that virtually all of the budget goes to the manager, not really something to call SISU up on. I'd be more annoyed if there was a surplus of cash knocking about.

The fact it's been allowed to get to such a point of disrepair in the first place. Showers hanging off walls, potholes everywhere, drab decor, nothing CCFC related.

I think TM has done the right thing, but shouldn't have needed to.

someone had to bring this club in the 21st century why not him? think it speaks volumes about ex managers that they were happy to just leave it

I like to think that Mowbray insisted on the graffiti style himself, and you can catch him on days off in his Firebird tracksuit spinning on an old piece of lino.

am i right in thinking the last manager to do anything publicly about ryton was boothroyd when he levelled the hill in the middle and put up the massive fence?, used to love going and watching training sessions before the fence went up

"Boothroyd Explains Why Ryton Is Closed To Spectators

Training ground behind 8' fence Coventry City manager Aidy Boothroyd has spoken out about why he has*banned spectators from*the club training ground at Ryton.

Since Boothroyd arrived at Coventry, he has overseen the erection of an 8' security fence around the facility to stop members of the public from watching the training sessions.*

Some supporters of the club are unhappy about being barred from watching their heroes train, but Boothroyd is adamant that training sessions will remain private affairs from now on.

“I understand that we have some very loyal fans who like to watch what’s going on,”* said Boothroyd, “and I’ve heard that some of them are upset, but this is private property – I wouldn’t turn up and sit inside your house without asking you and I don’t want people coming down to watch everything we do.

Saturday or Tuesday is where they can come and watch us." “There will be time to have an open training session, probably at the Ricoh and I’ll be quite happy to do that,* but that time hasn’t come yet because I’m still getting used to the players and they’re getting used to me."

“The last thing we need is to have anybody’s ego pricked because people are there watching when I have to shout and bawl at them and the next thing you know it’s on some website. I don’t think the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United allow that sort of thing and if I let every Tom Dick and Harry in, or Harriet; I don’t want to be sexist and upset anybody else, I wouldn’t feel comfortable and it would make it harder for us to be successful.”

Boothroyd*hinted that one of the reason why he is reluctant to have outside observers watching training is because of the combative*nature of the practise matches as players attempt to prove they deserve a starting place on match days.*

“Competition is so important,” he explained. “We’ve got some fantastic footballers here, probably too many at the moment, but they’re all fighting for a place, particularly down the spine of the team with the centre backs, central midfielders and centre-forwards, so the training is fierce.

That’s not a problem and I don’t lose sleep over it, far from it, I think it’s healthy." "To get the best out of yourself you have to have somebody competing against you every day. You have to know that if you’re not at your best somebody else is waiting to take your place.”

Boothroyd explained that his training methods are not all bawling out and giving the players a hard time, he also recognises the need to the quiet word, a pat on the back and a lot of praise.

The velvet glove, but with an iron fist inside is the preferred approach of Boothroyd on the training ground. “People tend to think that footballers just turn up in their big cars, train for a couple of hours and that’s it, said Boothroyd, but they are human being.

They have needs and problems like everybody else. I and my staff have got to use our eyes, our ears and our experience to keep tabs on that."

"People like Steve Ogrizovic, Steve Harrison, the guys in the kit room and the medical room are vital because they pick up on things which might influence my thinking.”

total bollocks to get any real access to it you had to book it through the managers assistant and she would let him know you were going to be there and leave your name with les on the security gate. without that clearance they could just train on the 2nd pitch which you couldn't see from the bank and needed clearance to go down to.

You have to ask how many of our Ex managers were employed on the same footing as TM. He went to see Joy and told her straight what's wrong at the club and if they wanted his services he needed complete control of the budget and a free reign to do with it what he felt it could be best spent on. It's shameful that the training ground was allowed to get to be an uninspiring dump where it seems even basic maintenance wasn't done.

If the club has been cut off from its paymasters, we might actually have to praise TF and SW for the new approach which lets managers manage (or otherwise!) how they see fit.

From TM's comments about going to see Joy and telling her how it needs putting right I don't think TF and SW can take any praise for his appointment and the terms of his employment. They were just doing what they were told what to do and how it's going to be IMO.

No, it speaks volumes about Sisu's priorities. It's not the team manager's job to sort this kind of stuff out.

I often ask myself what TF and SW are here to do lmao think choice in managers are to blame to Andy thorn was just lucky to have the job coming from scout, Mark Robins wasn't really here long enough to look into it after arriving during the season and leaving before that season was done and compared to what Falkirk had Ryton might well have looked like the hilton to SP
