Anybody know what this is all about?

Can remember seeing him walking round the pitch at most home games and some away games.

Yes, Chris O'Neill. Top bloke, apparently next season Wasps are taking over all security aspects of the stadium at any sporting event. He is however been offered the opportunity to continue on away days too keep an eye on us.

So he worked for CCFC but obviously was in charge of our games home and away but now Wasps want to do it he can just do away games?

God knows had bad things will be next season. The more Wasps have taken control of running matchday (and charging us over the odds for doing so) the worse things have got.

Surprised the CT haven't got an article up on this seeing as they have been running Wasps articles the last few days.

Wasps owning the RICOH outright was only ever going to be a negative thing.

Thank you Council and ACL, we may have twatty owners, but, have a bit more foresight!

Surely if there is somebody already there who has a relationship and what seems to be lots of respect from the fans it's a much better option than a random guy strolling about telling Stewards to do things? Without people like him to be a go between and calm things down it has the potential to get silly.

Will Wasps make any sort of announcement about the changes?

Not seen him at home games but usually at every away games, very helpfull, i always thought he was some fans representative at away matches. Always there to help with any ticketing issues. Etc.

I never actually knew what his role was! Well now i know! And hes been sacked.

Whats ACL got to do with our away days?

I might be wrong so happy to be corrected.

I got the impression he was part of CCFC but on our matchdays he was the go between for the club, our fans and ACL in terms of stewarding. Then for away games he links up with the home team for the same thing and speaks with our fans. I can remember MK when some fans got dragged out he was involved and talking to stewards and the fans to try and calm it down a bit.

Now from what I can see ACL are removing him from our homegames because they want to do it all themselves?

Somebody who knows the situation better can probably correct me.

I know this won’t go down well, but it’s the truth:

The problem isn’t Wasps. Any buyer would have wanted their own staff. The problem was that Sisu broke the lease then harassed the landlord to the point they wanted shot as it had become a liability.

If you don’t like the fact this shit is happening blame Sisu and the people on here who cheered them on for “getting one over on the council” with the rent strike. Worst strategy ever. Never forget the long term damage that did.

Surely if his job has changed hands, he would transfer over to that company as a consequence???

how does an employee of Otium get removed from his job by a completely different & independent company? If Otium wanted to keep their own safety officer (which I think they should to protect CCFC fans interests irrespective of what ACL do) then what is to stop them? If he is no longer safety officer how will he be doing away days?

All seems a bit strange

Surely they can remove him from home games by saying "We don't want your safety officer here for your home games"?

It reads as if he will still be at away games.

but he is either employed or not..... clearly on a fraction of the time to what he was at home where I would assume he would have other duties linked to the ground on matchdays..

Not sure the Council or ACL moved us to Northampton.

Easily. He's the safety officer for the club and if the ground operator says, as they have done with other roles, that CCFC can't use their own safety officer and must use the one provided by the ground operator, at considerable additional expense, then he no longer has a job.

possibly but with the positive relationship the two clubs have apparently you would think there is a compromise that could be reached....... him being the CCFC safety officer doesn't cost ACL anything after all. CCFC should be able to monitor and discuss the safety of its fans properly for themselves even if not in charge of it

Let's hope the franchise scumbags are gone soon.

I wonder if those quick to blame SISU will be just as condemning of them, I think not somehow!

If his role is something that CCFC were responsible for that is now transferring to ACL, shouldn't he be in line for a TUPE transfer?

If he was employed in the capacity he says he was TUPE rules are in place to prevent what you describe.

From what I was told ACL have had their man in all season hence the heavy handedNess.
Chris was a decent man used to talk through things properly unfortunately ACL are less accommodating they like to act first and ask after.
Can see some more fans getting band from games:(

I’m not going to get dragged into a debate regarding the politics of the RICOH I will say this.

The sale of both shares in the RICOH to Wasps represents an existential threat to CCFC. As far as I’m aware (so I could be wrong) it wasn’t necessarily the case that either the Council or ACL were under financial pressure to sell the RICOH in the first place.

All it takes is for Wasps to turn around and say they don’t want us at the RICOH and we’re essentially homeless. Is there even a feasible plot of land to build another football stadium?

The RICOH row was something of a ‘Game of Thrones’ — I think the sale to Wasps was political in nature to outmanoeuvre SISU just as SISU played ‘the game’ by withholding the rent in the first place. However...

Without a doubt, the long term future of CCFC is in doubt. I don’t mean 5-10 years, I mean way beyond that and the days of SISU’s ownership long forgotten. The club is in a position where it cannot feasibly own even a part of the RICOH and is at the whims at another sports club. The alternative is maybe sharing with Cov Rugby? Again, an unsustainable agreement. Which means we will likely have to look into building our own stadium. The obvious questions are; where will a new stadium be? When will it be built? How, and who can finance it?

The thing is, CCC has a responsibility to CCFC regardless of who owns us, or what the relationship with the owners is. Because of CCFC’s significance to the city and community. Owners come and go, and after the SISU nightmare is over, the question is, what’s next?

It’s ok for the CCC to refuse to sell to SISU, however, it’s another thing entirely to shut the possibility of CCFC of owning a share in the stadium, in all perpetuity. I could live with Wasps owning half the stadium, and ring fencing the other half for when either ACL or CCC deemed CCFC ‘fit’ to own the remaining half. The stadium was built for CCFC after all.

I’ve said my piece, the last thing I want is a protracted discussion on who did what and whether it was deserved or not. I believe my opinions are a pragmatic observation of CCFC in the very long term.

I would think that if TUPE rules were to be employed the situation would need to be either ACL/Wasps had purchased Otium and therefore CCFC or Otium/CCFC sub contracted an independent company to cover the safety officers roll out and the contract moved to another independent company.
