Rumours doing the rounds that we (huddersfield) have offered a contract to Clingan. Should we be happy about this or not given that he was part of a team that ultimately went down? One of those players who everyone seems to have heard of without ever really knowing if he actually half decent

Seeing Ndlovu at the top of the board brought back some memories. He only played a handful of games for us but was one of the best players i've ever seen in town shirt. He ripped Crewe, Wolves and Notts Forest to shreds in his short time here. Was gutted when we didn't get him permanently

Also dissapointed that you went down as we went up as we always seem to avoid each other. Think it is something like 40 years since we were in the same division and fancied a trip to the Ricoh to see what all the fuss is about

Good luck for next season. It's a bitch of a division to get out of and hopefully you can do it first time and don't get stuck down there too long like we did

yes we sadly did offer new deal but in January and he turned it down last month and then we just didn't try negotiate

He's not too popular here and has now experienced relegation at his last 3 clubs. First season he did quite well and scored a couple of good free kicks. Mediocre season two and poor this year. He tends to hide in difficult games and does better when the team is playing well. Not a natural leader and I think struggles with match fitness.

He is a bottom half championship player, if you surround him with other championship quality players to consolidate he should be a decent squad player. If he will be the main midfielder expect to struggle.

Sideways Sammy had 3 seasons with us, last season was awful first 2 seasons not too bad but seemed to play the percentage game with lots of safe passes 5 yards or so rarely showed initiative with the ball and often slowed the game down useless at supporting the forwards or allowing counter attacking football. gave the ball away far too often last year. i'd like to say I'm glad he's gone but as we are most likely to have an unknown academy player in his place then I'm not too sure.

He's a tidy enough footballer. Can pass (though it's usually the safe option) and takes a decent set-piece.

Definitely drifted through the last season of his contract which has clouded people's opinions of him I think.

In the right team, playing the right style of football Clingan would be excellent at what he does. In our excuse for a midfield, playing god knows what tactics he was bloody awful. Pair him with someone who can do the creative duties while Sammy sits and keeps the ball ticking over and he'll do you well.

Don't know enough about your side to say which side he'd fall. Will say the guy is a mercenary and a bosman expert so don't expect him to do more than one contract.

He was captain last season and was a lethargic abomination. Set pieces are probably his strong point as he offers little either breaking up play or starting attacks-he tends to coast through games without really pushing himself.

He's shite, to put it in a few words! Steer well clear if you are looking for someone who will be committed to the cause, and play the ball forward! Also all your play will have to go thru him if he signs! And I mean every ball! Your team will be very frustrating to watch if you signed him!

Tbf, he was linked with Leeds I think when Grayson was in charge so it wouldn't surprise me if he was on your radar.

I think some people are being harsh on Clingan tbh, I think if you surround him with decent players he will do an ok job. However if you sign him intending for him to be the main man in midfield it won't work.

Relegation magnet, Arrogant Tosspot who believes he is the best thing since sliced bread with no good reason. Had one foot out of the door all season, and is a big part of why we are where we are. Senior pro and captain, who underperformed and let the side down time and time again. Never captain material. One good season. Steer well clear!
